Soooo... just pointing out that in the comics, Hand ninjas generally turn to ash when killed regardless of the method of death. Similar to vampires in Buffy. (At least from my recollection).
So maybe Matt even picked up on a non-fully-human vibe from Nobu and that's why he didn't care? Or at a certain point, the thing burning was just a pile of clothes and he realized the body had vanished?

That would have been a cool idea (and good foreshadowing) but none of Fisk's crew mentioned it. "Boss, either he pulled some Obi-Wan disappearing body shit, or he somehow snuck out without us knowing and is now running around naked and melting. What do we do?"
Hurt/comfort is literally my favorite fanfiction trope.
I am also VERY BAD at comforting people IRL when they're in distress. Like I can talk to people calmly and tell them it's okay, but there have been times where I have literally fled the room or just stood around awkwardly. So don't feel bad!

I think also a thing that gets neglected in this discussion is that Matt might not even remember the entire situation in full detail. He was in a greater state of physical trauma than he was during Cut Man by the time Nobu caught fire and was also in a very dangerous state emotionally - and I mean that in terms of dangerous for himself. Every time I watch that episode i can't help but think that Matt looks physically straight up outmatched in his claims to kill Fisk using his bare hands. He's not thinking clearly before he gets hurt and he's definitely not thinking clearly by the time he is losing serious amounts of blood.
And I mean, technically Nobu killed himself anyway (if he is actually dead). He deflected Matt's billy club into a lamp and it made him catch on fire. So there's also that. But that technical detail is also pretty much besides the point anyway because I feel like at that point in the battle 'Nobu is on fire' is just one awful detail of a shitty, shitty night, and it's one that can be (as I have seen before) explained away to himself for any number of reasons. If he even remembers the full details of why Nobu smelled like burning skin and it's very plausible that he might not.

I would ... except that I'd be a little scared of two things.
One, that all the fic prompts would include erotica, and I just can't write erotica. I mean, I'm really not capable of it.

OP - The idea of the exchange (and someone correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't actually run one personally) is that you get to choose the prompt you fill without knowing who it belongs to. So if you don't write erotica, that's fine. The idea is to pair the prompt to the best filler.
And also the idea is that every prompt gets filled because you do an even exchange. So everyone who prompts for it has to write.

Yeah, I see myself in your post. I'm not an emotional person, and mostly driven by rational thinking. So my thing is asking a hundred times if people need anything and then just awkwardly talk about awkward things to fill the silence. Also, when I'm sick, I usually just want to be left alone, so I kinda assume that's how others feel as well. Then again, I've never had anyone close enough to want to cuddle when I'm gross and sick, so I couldn't even say I wouldn't like it.

1) everyone submits one prompt and fills one prompt
or
2) everyone submits 3-5 prompts and fills one prompt from their assigned recipient

Actually Hand ninjas generally don't actually die, their bodies turn to ash but they're reborn (at which time they can die again but turn to ash immediately like Obi-Wan) which is what Gao was telling/foreshadowing with Fisk later when they were talking about Nobu's 'death', that his people were preparing him for what came next. Uh, if it was just a funeral there would have been no big ceremony or whatever.
I heard an interview with Peter Shinkoda recently and they asked him whether he was coming back in S2 and he said he couldn't say yet coz obvs the season is still filming and although he hasn't been called in yet, he still could be, and he wouldn't be able to confirm nor deny because Marvel no likey when their people start spilling secrets. IIRC that interview is on the Defenders Podcast.

sa - Sorry! I meant when a Hand soldier dies the FIRST time they are prepared and brought back to life, and THEN if they die again they turn to ash. So the story goes iirc. This is why so many of them are considered very very very old. I don't know if this is what Stick meant when he talked about Nobu to Matt but he did say that Nobu was near the top of the Hand power structure and Nobu was the name he was using now. Maybe Nobu has died before or maybe the MCU is going to change things up a little bit so it's not exactly like the comics, but there's definitely something weird with the way Nobu died and the way Gao was talking about him and the way Fisk was actually scared of Nobu and his people (the Hand).
also, here's another thing, since i just rewatched episode 9:
wesley asks fisk what they should do with nobu after they find him on fire and the fight with matt is finished. fisk's response? "let him burn."
