That's okay, I like complicated stories. This prompt has been eating at my brain for a while, that's why I sent out a flare like this to help me get a handle on Frank's character. I never intended it to be a one off or even a series of one offs. A story about a grieving widower meeting his supposedly dead spouse after so long? That's gold. That deserves care and effort. Grief and loss need room to breathe.
Or like that one time someone came up to Peter Dinklage and told him "I hope you don't die". xD
i took a screenshot! the two cops are in SWAT gear almost and clearly aren't in the process of taking foggy into custody. foggy's arms are still in front of him and the two cops are armed with what looks like assault rifles, but they're lowered, so they're clearly not planning on shooting anyone in that scene.
a friend of mine told me that in the punisher's comics, there have been cases where cops stood down and just let frank kill off whoever they were sent after, because they secretly agreed with what he was doing. it's possible foggy and the cops showed up to the scene of the carnage and foggy is horrified that the two cops aren't doing anything (which could further feed into his doubts about what the law can really do, and realize matt needs to stop frank? it's a bit of a stretch but it makes sense to me.

Ehh, maybe? But that would only make sense to the fans who are totally new to Daredevil because comics fandom have known exactly what Foggy looks like. And Elden looks exactly like comics Foggy.
What's funny here is that the comics fandom were the ones who were initially crying all kinds of foul about Charlie because Charlie doesn't look anything like comics Matt Murdock (some circles said Charlie didn't look white enough) but ime he's won over everyone with his acting ability. Including me, because I was one of those DD comics fans who took one look at Charlie and said NOPE. After the series slayed me, tho, Charlie Cox has overwritten any other comics/mental image of Matt Murdock I've ever had. What I'm saying is don't sweat the haters; they're loud but there's not many of them and we still get another season of Elden as Foggy. He may yet win over his naysayers. :)

Elden is much cuter than comics Foggy and I am grateful tbh I love his face. He is actually my favorite version of Foggy in any medium.

Yknow this weekend I was listening to a podcast talking about how a lot of fans badly want to see Ronda Rousey play Captain Marvel in the film because she has the right look, and the podcast crew were like, 'Do people understand she's not a good actor though? She's an MMA fighter, not an actor. You can CGI muscles onto an actor but you can't CGI talent.' That's how I feel about Charlie having red hair for the role. In the comics Matt Murdock has been a ginger, a blond, he's had auburn hair like Charlie, and in the comics his haircolour never changed Matt's behaviours one bit. The red hair was a sticking point for me at first but I saw the light. Charlie is a really beautiful specimen but it's not his looks that won me into believing him as Matt Murdock.
Maybe the military dudes apprehended Daredevil. Part of me wonders if they're doing a "OH NO MATT/DAREDEVIL IS DED" subplot (which would be cool) but I feel like Foggy would be a little more distressed in that situation maybe? Either way I am also super intrigued.
I'm kind of glad they didn't dye his hair. I still have flashbacks to Affleck's ~subtle~ dye job

I saw the trailer was announced released this morning, yay, but when I went to watch it it was down. :( Then I ran around on twitter and just started mashing all the millions of links that were posted and none of them worked! But everybody who saw it was excited and I was so aww no. Then I came here to ask if anybody had a link and saw this post, yay! Except the vid was down. :( Then someone else posted a link here and YAY OMG I FINALLY GOT TO SEE IT.
For serious, Daredevil been playing with my emotions today, you guys. My heart was on a roller coaster.
But the trailer is so hype, all the hype, and the last few seconds made it all worthwhile! Jon Bernthal is going to bring so many new fans into the DD fandom! The Punisher has a huge following of fans, at least as many as Daredevil if not more, so this fandom is going to be rocking and rolling next year! I cannot wait, I want it NOW! And hopefully like there has been hints from Marvel that Frank Castle might even get his own spinoff show on Netflix too. That would be so awesome, then we can hope Matt does guest appearances on The Punisher's show in between doing The Defenders.

Charlie's eyes are beautiful and amazing. Was there any cgi involved or did he just use his impeccable iris muscles?
Hey, anon, I appreciate you speaking up on this. Foggy's family has often seemed to come across as Jewish in the comic canon though he doesn't seem to practice anything. And since the very Jewish Ben Urich and his wife were altered to being Catholic to the point of using Matt Murdock's priest in order to accentuate the Irish-American Catholic culture of Hell's Kitchen, it's started getting annoying.
I hated the name Mapone anyway. And it was out of canon with Daredevil: Ninja, where they named Stick-reborn-as-a-baby 'Karen'.

If you notice, he also has a gun duct-taped to his other hand. That's straight out of the comics and it has to do with the Punisher. I'm really curious how the show is going to play this.

I keep seeing people here and there complain that it's ooc and a writer oversight that Matt never had an emotional crisis over killing Nobu. Wouldn't the simplest explanation for why he never agonized about it after it happened be because at the time that he dove out that window, Nobu's heart was still beating?
He demonstrated pretty clearly in the scene with Claire that he wasn't bothered about what happened to Semyon after he tossed him into the dumpster, because when he left him he had still been breathing. (Which is a whole other can of worms, honestly.) It just seems the most likely to me that the same went for Nobu, which is why he was more upset about his own actions concerning Fisk (IE that he sought Fisk out specifically to murder him, which goes so far against his moral code.)

Hurt/comfort is my jam in fandom but IRL it's always more like hurt/discomfort because I have no idea how to deal with the pain of nonfictional people and when I'm hurt I just want to hedgehog up and be alone to snuggle my own tummy and sleep. I hover near sickbeds with large mugs of water because what the fuck else am I supposed to do? Thankfully, most of my friends know by now and tell me to bugger off when they get sneezly or sick or injured. Or sad, because hovering with a large mug of water and making helpless whimpery sounds in sympathy are literally my only caretaking skills.
I just wanted to share this, partially because fandom is such a wish fulfilment thing and I really wish I was better at helping out the people I love, but mainly because I wanted to put 'hurt/discomfort' out into the world.

Hey I'm not saying Nobu was innocent or that it wasn't hard for Matt to, idk concentrate or whatever at the time, I'm saying Matt didn't react to his (fandom assumed) death at all even later on when he reacted emotionally to the things he'd done that night in regards to Fisk. Which makes me think that Nobu likely wasn't straight up dead at the time that Matt rolled off the scene. It's not like people can't survive several minutes after receiving third degree burns, or even that it would be the first time Matt caused serious irreparable bodily harm to someone and just shrugged it off because technically he hadn't killed them.

Sorry dude, I don't have hours to wade through all the articles I read to get you sources but google is your friend and I can say those articles were online before DD was released and commenters were reviewing the trailers (like the way the critics are judging Jessica Jones now) and judging Charlie's 'look'. Critics and commenters were very judgey and plenty were not happy that Charlie was not a comic-book Irish American redhead with milk-white skin. If you'll notice, some people here on the km still have problems with Charlie not looking like the comic book character and maybe they don't realise what they're saying, but they're still saying it. I was one of those people too, I admit my fault. I distinctly remember some critic calling Charlie 'swarthy' which seemed ridiculous to me but in the low light of the series Charlie does look like he has darker skin in some scenes. In the light of day his hair goes very auburn and his eyes are hazel but that's rarely apparent on the show.
It was about 3 minutes from his feet catching fire to Matt nopeing out the window.
He had some fairly good circumstances as far as being on fire goes. Best case, he dies in the ambulance (you know, if anyone had called one) but his heart could maaaaybe still have been beating and that's good enough for our hero.
I think Matt says something to Lantom in the next episode? Either way, the Japanese seemed like an afterthought. "We'll do that next season. I'm sure nobody will mind the lack of payoff or explanation if we promise to maaaaaaybe have it explained later by Elektra and her Impractically exposed midriff"
