People are interpreting things he's saying and doing (or not saying and doing) in an unflattering way. He hasn't done anything asshole-ish like drown a kitten. (imo, people are just disgruntled because he's not engaging in an enthusiastic, fannishly approved way in interviews. *shrug*)
What do they expect, a weary actor to say "fuck it, I can't stand all this money, having a semi-guaranteed job for the next few years, and money. We're doing x plotline and killing character y"

A lot of people didn't like Foggy or didn't like his interpretation of Foggy.
I honestly think that's it. I don't get the weird excuses. I'd understand (and stop rolling my eyes so much) if someone just said they didn't like him instead of claiming he doesn't take his job seriously because he was late once

I was referring to other posts that were made specifically to bash Elden (the "recast him!" post comes to mind).
Your post has definitely been hijacked by people with some weird axe to grind against Elden, which is annoying because really we should all be squeeing about all the good stuff that came out of NYCC.

NYCC was this past weekend and some people won an official DD cast signing and Elden showed up late for it, so I guess they're upset. And also at some of the interviews Elden said some super awkward things. That's about it. The reaction here is kind of extreme though. Some people are legit obvs trolling. Other fans and critics have really disliked him in the role and have been very vocal about it in public media. Since this is a fannish hothouse and Foggy makes up half of the most popular house pairing, there's a lot of trolls on each side of the love/hate fence here. I just ignore them all. You can't reason with anybody who is blindly with or against a fictional character or actor.

I wouldn't worry about the haters here, but poor Elden did say in an interview this weekend something like a lot of people come up to him on the street to ask him why he's mad at his best friend, and he shouldn't be mad at him because his friend is a superhero and it's awesome, like doesn't he get it? Don't be mad at your friend! (Fans who think Elden is Foggy and are defending Matt to him are awesome lol.) And Elden is like UH I don't write the show...

When he was talking about it he made it sound like it was adults who were coming up to him irl. If it was kids it would have been cute yeah.

There was an interviewer a while ago who asked Charlie who would DD choose if he had to make out with Superman or Batman, and Charlie declined to answer because Marvel would fire him, but fucking MattFoggy fandom were pisssssed that he didn't automatically answer FOGGY HE WOULD MAKE OUT WITH FOGGY. Like how delusional are you people to be pissed about that? And how much do you want to bet that same MattFoggy fan is here on the km tho? I'm betting money right now that they're here because this place would be their jam.
