Re: When did you start hating female characters?

I'm nodding my head at the majority of your thoughts, especially being able to explore rape etc. while maintaining a distance from the reality of rape culture in our everyday lives, but I actually see a/b/o in a different way! Rather than erasing gender to become a "one gender" society, I find it a way to separate gender from reproduction. So much of the identity of being a female romantic partner in real life is one way or another related to reproductive capability, so I feel that a/b/o allows fans to make a distinction between "This character is female and is obviously still female, but because she isn't an omega (or carrying-capable beta) she can be her and still have the respect of an alpha." I'm not usually a big a/b/o fan outside of specific dynamics, because it's typically a little too carnal for my tastes, but being able to explore relationship dynamics and society and gender apart from reproduction is interesting to me.
