Re: The word "crazy" is offensive?

Well, I love the phrase and I'm going to continue using it. Sorry, not sorry. This may surprise you, but the vulgarity is the whole damn point of "don't stick your dick in crazy." It's over the top slang and exactly what I mean to say to describe Matt's terrible relationship choices.

And Elektra is exactly the kind of crazy Matt should stay away from, imo. Girl was practically orgasming over the thought of Matt murdering someone.

We are not objecting to vulgarity. This is a kink meme, we're all fine with vulgarity and swearing and filthiness. What we are objecting to is misogyny and dehumanizing people with mental illnesses.

i might agree with you if the phrase was specifically referring to a real person, but seeing as how all of this is about NOT REAL PEOPLE it does not ~dehumanize~ anyone (also, I find that objection particularly funny/hypocritical considering the kind of shit people prompt on here specifically asking for dehumaization). matt is not a real person and therfore can't get offended if you call him (or any of the people someone might want him to fuck) crazy. shocking, i know.

Lol what. So many catchphrases and buzzwords but you obviously don't know what any of them actually mean.

It's fine if you want to use it and say it's because it's vulgar or rude and that's the point and what makes it powerful. But you have to then own it and not be similarly offended by the fact that people tell you they find it vulgar or rude. Of course they're offended and have an issue. You just admitted that's why you're using it. So it's uncool to act like the person offended is being the jerk.

it's cool you think i'm a jerk. it's not cool that you think you have the right to control what i can or can't say.

Where did I say that? The whole point of that reply was that you can say what you want. And people can also be offended that you said what you wanted.

You're right, I've no call or care to censor what you do or say in your private life, but please remember this space belongs to someone else, you're spending time in someone else's home, and they're kind enough to let us all hang out together here. They're kind enough to let us stay if we can be considerate and respectful of each other. To date, we've done pretty well and it's not hard but you have to be willing to exist alongside people who have very different opinions than your own.

Again, same can be said to the people trying to control what people can and can't say on this meme: You have to be willing to exist alongside people who have very different opinions than your own.

I don't like the words bitch or dyke, but unless someone's trying to attack me personally with them I don't usually make it my mission in life to try and stop people from using them.

I know these threads can be difficult to parse so let's go back to the reading comprehension part of this discussion. To clarify what's on the table (or at least what I'm understanding is on the table? Correct me if I'm wrong): Some of the *prompts* (and discussion) are veiling or devolving into character bashing and propagation of hate mongering toward specific character *traits* which include, but are not limited to, devaluing an entity wholesale because of their mental health status. Not the character, the traits.

The mod has acknowledged a lot of recent aggressive commentary here pushing the line toward hate. I've seen it and... Silence is a choice, I'm perfectly fine with speaking up anonymously or otherwise. Judging from this discussion, I'm not the only one taking umbrage.

...devaluing an entity wholesale because of their mental health status.

It's at this point where I feel like a lot of people are just... projecting their feelings onto the character. They hear "(x) is crazy!" or "(x) knows not to stick his dick in crazy" and get personally offended on behalf of this fictional person as if the comments were made about them.

But calling a character crazy (whether it be rudely or nicely) should not be taken as a value judgement on real-life people with mental health issues or those who are fans of the character. It's just one person's opinion about a character, phrased colloquially.

Ehh, maybe? But at least there's civil dialogue happening now, and civil dialogue is always a good thing.

DA Elektra IS crazy! Read her comics, and you'll see what I mean. She's "play with your prey" type insane. She loves to use manipulation, sex, and people's emotions to her advantage. She will milk everything out of her prey, and use the victims to her amusement as well. I never really liked her much. Not one of my favorites.
