Are people not allowed to dislike ships or characters now? Must've missed that memo.

Everyone can like or dislike whatever they want, of course they can, whoever said they couldn't? Even the title of this thread shows that there are people who dislike Elektra and nobody is attacking them for that.

But the AYRT specifically mentions ugly, vicious hate. That's beyond simple dislike, and it often makes people uncomfortable to see it. I don't think it's wrong for people to say they're avoiding places where they've seen that hate, and I definitely don't think them saying as such is the same as them telling others that dislike ships and characters isn't allowed.

No, bit I think this person is just saying that there's disliking a ship or character, and there's Tumblr wank which calls anyone who doesn't dislike that ship or character an asshole. And vice versa.

Thankfully people here generally have been known to agree to disagree.

Ah, okay. Thankfully I don't follow anyone who's into shipping wars or character hate (got enough of that in the Force Awakens fandom! lol), so I haven't seen that side of the daredevil fandom yet.

As the poster earlier says, there's actually relatively little of it.

Emotions are high right now because we're all wallowing in post-season angst, but generally we're a very chill bunch.

Just chipping in--I'm not even done with Season Two, and I absolutely hate Elektra because *she's not a character*. Absolutely every scene I've seen her in, she's written to be as bad for Matt as possible, and that's about it. She doesn't have any dimensionality, you're given no reason to feel sympathy for her, she's just written as the clear WRONG CHOICE, MATT.

And that's not a real person, that's a cardboard cutout. Maybe that's on the writers, maybe a better actress could have delivered more believable subtext or something, but right now, the only thing Elektra does right is do homage to Matt's Catholic heritage by being the perfect example of a Vice from a morality play. Frankly, she's a disappointment.

And I feel a lot of sympathy for the person who started this thread.

[Note: I don't really "ship" Matt with anyone yet. The show hasn't really sold me on any specific pairing, except for friendship with Foggy, so I didn't come into the season with an anti-Elektra bias. If I ever read the comics, I may still like her--yeah, she makes stupid choices, from what I've heard, but Karen apparently does even worse.]

Keep watching! You miiight change your mind about Elektra. She gets more character development later on. It was the one shining light in the whole mess that was the rest of that storyline for me.

And no, Karen doesn't do anything "whiny" or "stupid", at least not any more than anyone else. But people have been very good at inventing interesting reasons to think so. :/

This, I was side-eying Elektra up until the last couple of episodes. They definitely give her more depth, and on re-watch, I appreciated her and her story much more.

This is off topic, but what does "NA" mean? I'm used to AYRT, RTYI, et cetera, but I think I've not seen "NA"?
