Nobu just killed the love of his life, Matt can't be in his right mind.

This is very true. But Matt refusing to cross the line and become a murderer was such a giant plot point in season one, with him considering crossing it multiple times but never doing it. And then in season two he tries to ban Elektra from killing anyone. So it's still something that is part of his moral code. I don't mind that it happened, it just felt a shame that it was such a potentially important moment for his character, but it got glossed over.
