Re: Karen appreciation thread
(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)But omg, YES to all the rest you said. I've never really felt much for Karen, in the comics or the show - didn't dislike her, just kinda meh - but this season she was AMAZING. Her whole storyline was so, so well done. She was perfect this season. And Ellison mentoring her, and her doing all this research and investigation, and omg. It was just fantastic. Definitely the best part of the season for me.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-19 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)Well, that's disappointing :(
For some reason I thought her brother survived. I think her talking about him in present tense threw me off. IIRC now, it did say right there on the headline that the 16-year-old dies though.
I liked her in S1 but yeah, her plotline was not quite as engaging there (except for the Wesley part, because damn). This season, they really brought her to the front lines.
I was really annoyed about Ellison at first! I was like ugh, damn you, this should have been Ben! But later on I think the writers really sold it. I'm still a little unhappy but then, Ben is always a presence between Karen and Ellison, and you can see how much he still impacts on them. I liked Ellison in the end too, in his gruffly caring ways.
