Oh I think you're onto something there. Because the one huge takeaway I got from this season was that Matt wants very badly to be accepted for who he is, which includes being accepted as Daredevil (instead of just Matt Murdock, sainted pro bono community lawyer) and the people who accept him as Daredevil are the people with power over him, he gives them that power. His emotional state gets more and more fragile through the series that he ends up being so vulnerable, at one point he's actually willing to follow Frank's lead on killing a terrible someone 'just this once'. (Which, god love Frank Castle for looking so horrified when Matt made that offer, and refuses to let Matt do it.) Which was earthshaking to me, that Matt would make that offer, but I also felt like... everything had chipped away at Matt's mental, physical, emotional well-being that he was finally okay with following anyone who had a more defined purpose than he did, like he was looking for an emotional anchor outside of himself and just kept... not finding it. Not that DD doesn't have a defined purpose but... ugh, I'm not explaining this well, sorry. Maybe I need to think about it a little more.

Going back to the way they filmed this, Matt looks big compared to Elektra everywhere except when they meet in uni, when she has all the power in the relationship. But modern Elektra is so constantly lost and pulled apart and looks so tiny that Matt's a rock compared to her, until they meet the Hand and she finds her purpose in life, and it all cycles back around and they have their Butch and Sundance moment and Matt's all 'if we live, I'll follow you anywhere'. He wants to be HAD by someone, even someone as conflicted and morally bankrupt as Elektra, as long as they'll have ALL of him. I think that's my point right there, lol. But Matt filmed physically compared to others, hmm. Daredevil gets several ground-up hero shots, and we get moments of that, too, but Matt also gets dominated so often this season, physically, emotionally, verbally, by people you wouldn't expect it from. Definitely going to watch this again and look for more cues. Thanks for pointing this out, nonnie.
