This is so, so good, but oh my god. *hides behind hands* I can see the trainwreck coming, it's going to be horrible but - inevitable? I can't look away.
I was so glad Jess popped up again. I don't even know the character that well, but I still gave a little cheer when she made another appearance. And Karen being observant and smart and a lttle fed up with the drama but still concerned was spot on.
And Foggy. Oh, Foggy. I love that for all the rage he feels, he's still going about things his way. And the bit about how he and Matt never actually talked about their issues, just moved on and tried to put it behind them? Yeah. Ouch, but also believable, considering everything.
(And just as a style note, I loved how you broke up the passages where Foggy thinks about how to track down Stick. It was really effective in showing how the new trains of thought were occurring to him.)
Absolutely loving this fic, even though I know it's going to stab me in the heart. (Multiple times, I can tell.) Thank you for writing this!
Sidenote: is this fic going to stay gen, or will it get shippy down the line? Personally, I'm good with it either way - I just like setting my expectations on the right track. :)
