And then Matt tries to explain and it makes things worse. I'm imagining Peter telling everyone else about where to hide Stick's body because he's been hanging out with Wade too much.

Imagine Clint showing up a few days later with all his gear on, scary-calmly (I don't know the word for that) asking why Kate came back from training with bruises all down the length of her forearms

OH NOOOOO. yeah, that would probably be a very awkward experience involving clint calling her "katie" a lot and "i swear to god matt if i see one more bruise ANYWHERE on her person i'm coming back and i won't be as polite next time."

cue matt realizing maybe his training methods aren't working that well for kids. cue matt trying to be a better trainer to teenagers than stick was to him.

I don't know about you all, but I want to see Matt terrified of the realization that he's turning out like Stick and going out of his way to avoid them all.

Hopefully he eventually ends up learning the art of Normal People Training from Clint and some other heroes. Falcon does a group meeting thing to start mending the broken bonds of trust.
They start again with Matt as more of a TA. Eventually he either leads the lessons or co-teaches with whoever 'just happened to be in the neighborhood'

The kids are pretty much adopted by Foggy and Karen and it's not unusual to see one or two hanging around doing homework or learning how to do spreadsheets or something

One day Matt gets home to find the kids casually having a pizza party. "You're just in time, have a piece and sit down, we're gonna listen to Firesign Theatre"

Well, since it's basically half-written already, I guess I'll just have to type it up as a proper fic.

Plotting that was a beautiful journey of hope and despair that left me emotionally drained, yet satisfied, like fucking a burning dolphin

And lol Clint's mostly there to keep an eye on things. Sam makes it very clear that no one should use Clint as a role model, Clint doesn't even respond bc he knows Kate will start telling everyone about his many failures as a grown adult.
