This actually happened in the comics at one point. Matt ended up homeless because he didn't want to drag Foggy into it/ foggy was too busy with his own stuff. And Matt's the kind of person who won't ask for help anyway.

I actually just read that arc in the comics and was pretty disappointed by the way the writing was handled. This request was basically me hoping to read Born Again handled WELL.

I know, my really big issue is that Foggy is just not that supportive from what I've seen in the comics. Granted, I've only read some story arcs and one-shots so far, but yeah. Writing in superhero comics is rarely good, and everything is always handled in a really one-dimensional way, leaving a lot to be desired.

I always have to laugh when people who read superhero comics look down on fanfic writers because most fanfic I've read actually puts more time into character development and plotting than comics. Just because these dudes are getting their shit published doesn't mean random English student fanfic writer number 68388383 can't write and plot way better than they can.

Agreed. There are some fantastic comic writers out there, but some arcs? Are just not that great. Some writers that keep getting picked up by Marvel are very much not my cup of tea (hey Rick Remender, I'm looking at you).

I have faith in this meme being able to come up with something amazing, though. Here's hoping someone will fulfill my Matt's-life-is-terrible dreams~!

Foggy is a pretty good guy and caring and considerate but yeah, sometimes he can be really self-centered when it comes to Matt. That was a little of my problem with MCU!Foggy, that Foggy tends to take anything about Matt as an extension of himself, in a way? Like 'how does this affect ME' rather than 'how does this affect you (or us).' It starts from the time they meet in uni to the argument in Nelson vs Murdock. I'd love to see MCU!Foggy take a stand for Matt if Kingpin breaks him down to that point, yeah. Actually, I'm hoping S2 shows us Foggy finally flying a DD flag or being super supportive. ♥

I mean, yeah, maybe the Foggy I've seen in the comics is just 100% Done with Matt's shenanigans ruining his life, but they just don't seem to be very good friends in general? Though vol. 3 Foggy was a lot better compared to the older stuff. I just don't get the feeling that they're actually close friends in the comics, nothing like like mcu foggy and Matt's relationship.

Though as an addendum I will add that 616 Matt is a Giant Douchebag of Epic Proportions, so I really can't fault Foggy for the way he acts sometimes. 616 Matt is just so self-centered and chauvinistic at times, and he always has to be right and in control and it gets old after a while.

Do you mean the part where Foggy fired Matt from the practice which precipitated Matt's hitting bottom or the part where Matt was possessed by the Beast and the only one who could get through to him was Foggy (eventually)?

"Giant Douchebag of Epic Proportions" is a bit harsh lol. I think 616 Matt is a genuinely good guy (which is why so many people are drawn to him), but has a dark (re: douchey) side that he struggles with. Foggy himself says something along the lines of* Matt can be the most frustrating, controlling, always has to be right guy I've ever met. So why do I put up with him? Because no one will ever make you feel more loved than Matt Murdock will.

*as I said, I'm paraphrasing. Anyways, it does kind of sum up why so many of Matt's relationships- both platonic and romantic- tend to have such highs and lows. Also why some of the people he's dated, like Karen, repeatedly come back to him, while others like Natasha, Elektra and Echo remain friends with him.

Yesss. OP would love to see the MCU version go this route, with hopefully a better reaction from Foggy.

So many hopes for S2. I want all of the things. :)
