“Karen, there’s something I need to warn you about regarding Matt before you start working here. He has a certain fondness for a notoriously annoying style of humor.”

“Foggy, I have two older brothers. I’m used to a little bit of toilet humor here and there.”

“Oh no. It’s much worse than that.”

“Um...dead babies?”

“No. ...He calls them ‘Mattitudes.’”

“...’Mattitudes?’”

“It’s supposed to be a pun on ‘platitudes.’”

“Oh. Oh.”

“Yeah. Most of the time it’s not too bad, but sometimes it can get a little out of hand. I just thought that you should be forewarned.”

“Alright, thanks for the heads up.”

“Hey Matt, I’m making some tea. Do you want some?”

“No T for me, but I will take a Q if you have one.”

“...No. Just tea. That’s all I’m offering.”

“Karen! We hired you because we thought you had a Q. Nobody else around here does. What a shame to find out that you, too, are Q-less.”

“Matt, I swear I’ll slap you if you don’t stop.”

“Get in line. Or, as they say across the pond, join the queue.”

“Oh my God…”

“Language! ...Also, I think that your tea finished steeping about five minutes ago.”

“Oh! Thanks Matt, I forgot about it.”

“No problem. Wouldn’t want you to miss your cue.”

“Do you want your face to have an unfortunate collision with hot tea? Because if you don’t change your trajectory, that’s right where this conversation is headed.”

“I’m sorry, Karen, I just can’t help myself sometimes. Tell you what, why don’t we go to Josie’s after work for a round of pool?”

“I’m not listening to this.”

“You do know what they call the pool stick, right?”

“Oh look, invoices. I really should get to work on these. In the bakery next door.”

“Their herbed bagels do smell especially good today, so have a good thyme.”

Matt’s smile only grew as he listened to Karen groaning all the way down the stairs.

Author-anon here, and glad you enjoyed it! I have a few other scenarios in mind (including all of the bad guys being utterly perplexed by Daredevil's trash talk) and just have to come up with the puns to go with them.

It's funny though, because this actually could headcanon really well? Like, in my experience, people who enjoy puns tend to be people who are really interested in the sounds of words and in finding how similar sounds apply to words with really disparate meanings, and then finding ways to juxtapose those words against each other in amusing ways. So Matt, who had to learn new ways to listen to sounds after he was blinded, could totally have developed an interest in puns as a coping mechanism. And Foggy and the others may complain, but he knows that deep down they find his cleverness and dorkiness somewhat endearing. If it were ever really a problem, he would know it before they, like Stick, left him.

...Now I need to find puns for BabyPunster!Matt to say to Stick. Hmm...

That's a really interesting observation to make. It makes a lot of sense too, considering communication is 90% non-verbal. Matt can't gauge how a person is reacting to a joke from their body language. He can't see their grins, their anticipation, where their eyes are being directed, so doing a long winded joke would be very hard thing to do.
