Prompt Post #4
HEAD OVER TO PROMPT POST #5.
Keep filling prompts on this post! Make sure to link any new fic on the complete or work in progress fills posts so it doesn't get missed.
Please read the current rules before commenting on this post.
Previous Rounds: Prompt Post #1 | Prompt Post #2 | Prompt Post #3
Fills: Completed & WIPs
Rules:
- General
- YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.
- All comments must be anon.
- Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
- RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.
- Discussion not related to the prompt should be moved to the discussion/off-topic post.
- Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.
- Prompts
- All types of prompts are welcome.
- Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).
- Warnings are nice, but not necessary. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.
- Reposted prompts are allowed once one round has passed - i.e., prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.
- Fills
- Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill.
- Long fills can either be posted over multiple comments, or posted on AO3 and linked back here.
- Multiple fills are always okay.
- Fills can be anything! Fic, art, vids, interpretative dance...
- Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP Post.
If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
Re: FILL: 5+1, matt/OCs, matt/foggy [4/5]
(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)Loving this fic so far. I can't wait to get to
the pornthe end. ;-)---------
maths = math class
come back to mine = come over to my place
rucksack = packback
mum = mom
invited him round = invited him over
he’s honestly not got a fucking clue = he honestly has no clue
Toilets = bathroom/washroom
took me the whole of high school to find you. = took me all four years of high school
do that thing again
, yeah?. With your teeth.college = law school (not a Britishism, but they met in law school not college)
“Bit desperate, were you?” = I don’t know how to change this to sound more American. This sentence is just really British. Maybe the guy is British? ^^;
Foggy's decidedly not got any = decidedly doesn’t have any
it's fucking obscene
is what it is,, that Matt Murdock can suck cock like thisthan he’d ever dared hope = he’d ever hoped for
I swear I’m not taking the piss = I swear I’m not making fun of you
wank = jerk off
We’ll have to go to mine = It’s back at my place/ We’ll have to go back to my place.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)I'm v British hence all that but I do need an American picker??? Idk what u call it...ameripicker...so yeah thank u. I will probably change some according to what u say but not all bc some of them might interrupt the flow a lil bit, I feel
(And about the law school thing - I thought the fandom generally decided they actually met as undergrads cos of the whole Punjabi and all that but idkkkk.)
Also also I feel like...are some of these just the same way of saying things but dif synonyms/punctuation???
Do Americans rly not use wank? D: why not, such a good word.
Um. Yes thank u. I will be embarrassed about replying to this while drunk when I am more sober tmr. Haha oh dear.
(Glad ur liking it so far anyways despite britishisms eep)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 12:37 am (UTC)(link)Re: FILL: 5+1, matt/OCs, matt/foggy [4/5]
(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 01:06 am (UTC)(link)come back/go to mine
invite him round (although I usually write it as 'round, for some reason)
toilets (instead of bathroom)
took me the whole of ____ to ___ (although not commonly)
yeah? (I probably excessively use yeah in this way, this is fine)
bit ___, were you? (usually jokingly - I'll ask a friend, "Bit hungry, were you?" as they inhale food, for instance)
than he'd ever dared hope (probably not this specific phrase in either example, BE or AE, but I definitely use dared and drop for sometimes)
so those didn't ring any bells for me. But rucksack, mum, "not got" instead of "has/have", "___ is what it is", taking the piss, and wanking definitely sound BE, although I've seen them often enough in writing/online that they didn't throw me for a second. :)
Re: FILL: 5+1, matt/OCs, matt/foggy [4/5]
(Anonymous) 2015-06-26 05:56 am (UTC)(link)"go back to my place" is also valid
I think some of the British "yeah?" parentheticals can be replaced with "ya know?" or "right?". So like "Just.... do that again, ya know, with the teeth." or "this is okay, right?"
"Bit desperate, were you" could just be "Bit desperate, huh?"
"I swear I’m not taking the piss" can be Americanized as "I swear I'm not fucking with you"
Unfortunately we do not say "wank". The common substitutes are "jack off" and "jerk off"
