What I want is Karen fielding all he calls various Avengers make to their place of work. Aggressively and inventively.

"Please hold, I'll get him," Karen said, sweetly, and stabbed the button. "Hey, guys? This time it's Clint Barton and it was funny the first time, but it feels like bad luck to keep telling them Matt Murdock isn't in the office because he called in dead today."

"Impressively morbid," Foggy agreed. "Oh! Matt, I will buy you lunch if you let me pretend to be you this time around, I can totally do it, it'll be fun."

"He's a spy," Matt said, fighting the urge to break into a smile. "I think he'd notice."

"That's the whole point! - aw, okay, fun-killer."

Karen cleared her throat. "No, this is time sensitive, guys: I've got him on hold right now: five bucks says he hangs up in ten minutes."

"Five minutes," Foggy said. "They're on to us, I think."

"At least twenty," Matt said, with the despondent tones of someone who'd seen Hawkeye crouch near-motionless next to a window for two hours.

...i tricked myself into writing...some of it already, i think. all right, OP, you're the mastermind: do the Avengers (and by Avengers I really mean Bruce and Pepper (and possibly Sam) wind up befriending Matt? Does he manage to ESCAPE ALL THEIR ATTEMPTS AT GOODWILL? how do you want it to end?

(also: i am profoundly unimpressed with AoU - except for SAM SAM SAM - but i am flexible! which avengers line up do you see happening, here?)

I'd like some of them to win him over eventually, because Matt needs more friends and people to watch his back in his life. And I love fics where people who don't trust easily eventually learn to trust.

Please write whoever you're comfortable with. Hawkeye is SO overdone at this point, but I don't mind him (I liked family-man Clint from AoU, if that means anything to you). Bruce and Sam are good. I think Matt would have the hardest time with Stark, Steve, Natasha, and Thor.

op - And when I say Matt would have the hardest time with Tony, Steve, Nat, and Thor I mean it that it has more to do with Matt's perception of their public personas; not that they aren't all good people in their own weird way.

Tony would understand Matt's desire to fight back against corruption; Steve would understand wanting to do what's right and helping people any way you can; Natasha would probably be able to pick right out of him how he was trained to be a living weapon; Thor would admire his drive to protect "his realm."

If they could get Matt to calm down for 5 seconds he'd see they're good people.

Yeah, I think Matt would get along with Bruce and Sam the easiest because they're not Super Personalities, you know? Matt doesn't know enough about either of them to have an opinion about them (or at least, until he learns about Bruce being the Hulk. He might have feelings about THAT)

Omg this makes me want a Karen vs Pepper (or Karen vs Maria) showdown. (My money is forever on Pepper, though. XD)

(Pepper will always, always, eventually win!)

But the first time, though, that she came down to the office to talk to Nelson & Murdock herself, to try to explain the...total lack of boundaries all the Avengers have? (She loves Phil, she does, but his invasive lack of privacy has continued to normalize the constant invasions of privacy the rest of them all engage in, it's fine until a new person comes along, they mean well, it is not an aggressive invasion of privacy, this is just the way they...show they care.)

So she walks up to the office, and when Karen sees her her eyes get very big but she puts on the professional smile. "Ms. Virginia Potts," she says, in a clear, distinct voice. "How nice to see Ms. Virginia Potts in this neighborhood, today, in our office!"

Mr. Nelson jumps up to greet her in the lobby, and they exchange a really, really obvious look of panic. "Yeah, who would've thought Virginia Potts would be here? Matt will be pleased to see you," Mr. Nelson says.

Neither of them are shouting; they're not even raising their voices. They're just speaking distinctly, and clearly, and - she sighs.

"He's running away right now, isn't he?"

"He went to the mens right before you showed up," Mr. Nelson says, and he has the grace to look a little uncomfortable. "By now he's probably on the roof, though."
