a!a: anon, what would this fic be without inevitable sexy times. i'm the type of person who will absolutely go for xeno fic provided it's well-written, bonus points if the universe it's in has some sort of magical fuckery that provides for sexy tentacles' possible existence.

i have, um. read a shameful amount of xeno fic, especially for pacific rim and dishonored. this is going to get dirty.

one day matt comes stumbling home half-dead and unwilling to seek out adequate medical help like he do, and they all look up from their pizza party on his couch like oh hell no

never has a criminal organization been dismantled so quickly and so publicly and so embarrassingly as the one that almost got Daredevil, and then the next day got plastered all over social media falling at the hands of a bunch of very protective teens with powers

meanwhile matt is at home all "oh my god no stop it's dangerous that's dangerous i can carry the weight of the world by myself its fine"

I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID BUT YES, IT IS FILLED :D (And you don't owe me art, but I won't complain if art occurs! <3)

D'you know, one of the hard parts was actually stretching it out so that it took three monsters for Tony to have his brainstorm? Because like HELL that man hasn't watched every mecha anime/giant monster movie ever. XD

You really don't need more than a general idea of the characters and world in order to enjoy the fics, though. :P I zone out, too, so I only got through maybe a dozen episodes? And it hasn't been a problem at all for fic. (No pressure, though! It's meant to be a reassurance, not a nag. <3)

(A/N: Sorry this next update took so long. I kinda got stuck. Still not really happy with this part but I'm sick of looking at it so here ya go XD)

Foggy calls Matt's phone as soon as he gets down to the first floor of their building. The light is so dim and grimy in this hallway that he's pretty sure he would have trouble seeing anything with his good eyes; as it is, he has to feel his way to the door to make it out into the brighter lights of Hell's Kitchen just after dusk. Cars with their headlights on flash by, disorienting him a little, and he leans back against the wall, the back of his shoulder grinding into the edge of the Nelson and Murdock sign, and listens to the tone of Matt's phone ringing. Two, three, four rings, and then Matt's flat lifeless voicemail. He closes his eyes and knocks his head back against the brick. There's a migraine starting to build behind his right eye, which is failing slightly faster than the left one; the doctor had warned him that migraines were a possibility as he passed into the later stages of the disease, but he'd been lucky so far.

Guess my luck ran out, he thinks grimly. He hangs up without leaving Matt a message and stays there, against the wall with his eyes shut, phone hanging loosely in his fingers. Cocking his head slightly to one side, he tries to tune himself to his city, tries to pick out individual cars and footsteps and the scent of his favourite bakery across the street. He thinks he catches a whiff of something like Marci's favourite perfume, but when he opens his eyes, there's no one anywhere near him. He sighs, runs one hand down his face, and the sounds and smells of Hell's Kitchen blur back together, indistinguishable and noisy and overpowering as they have always been for him. I can't do this, he thinks for the second time of the night, and his throat tightens again. His heart is heavy in his chest, beating so loud and fast that Matt can probably hear it from his apartment fifteen blocks away. He tries, uselessly, to calm himself, to reassure himself that Matt isn't going to shed him like dead skin when he finds out, but before he can steady himself out, his phone rings and startles him nearly out of his shoes. Matt's ringtone.

He answers with his eyes closed on the first try. (Getting better at this, he thinks) "Hey."

"Hey, sorry, I was in the shower when you called," Matt's voice says, cheerfully enough. Foggy takes a deep silent breath, trying again to calm his heart so Matt won't hear it fluttering. He wishes for the millionth time that he could tell whether or not Matt is lying. But he can't, so he straightens his back, leans away from their sign. Brightens his voice.

"It's okay. Are you, uh. Doing your thing tonight?"

There's a long beat before Matt answers, and god, Foggy hates that they still can't talk about Daredevil without their recent fight rising immediately to the surface of Things They Can't Say.

"Yes," Matt answers. Stiff, awkward.

Foggy sighs and rubs his forehead. The migraine is starting to really throb, and he knows it's only going to get worse as the night progresses. "Do you think you could stand to take a break tonight? We could hang out at Josie's or something."

"Foggy, you know I can't," Matt says patiently, but with a little bit of an edge to his voice, like a teacher explaining something to a child for the hundredth time. Anger surges in Foggy's chest at the note of condescension in Matt's tone; for a terrifying second he hates Matt. "Not with that child trafficking ring meeting tonight," Matt continues. "Raincheck on Josie's?" And damn him, he sounds so tentative and hopeful that all of Foggy's anger drains instantly. He drops his head, eyes closed against the insistent pounding in his temple, and nods.

"Yeah, okay," he answers, and hopes beyond hope that Matt doesn't hear how rough his voice sounds. He hangs up before Matt has a chance to respond.

He doesn't expect a call back, and doesn't get one.

one of them probably ends up like. sort of sitting on Matt like YOU ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE BUSTER while this is in progress

(or, hell, maybe they're trying to do it all sneaky-like, bc this is Matt and Matt, well, he worries about them, and so when Matt asks them what they're up to it's like "UHHH. HOMEWORK. YEAH, HOMEWORK." and they hide whatever they've dug up on the criminal organization)

*snorts* Well, because to Matt, not much WILL change except the setting. Oh, and that whole 'consort' business... :P
Exactly! But from Foggy's perspective, he just thought Matt was playing at being human and that would end as soon as the deal was up. Like it was some game for Matt, which Foggy enjoyed as long as he could. But it doesn't end. It's not an act. That's just how Matt is. When he's not torturing the souls of the damned for eternity.

Foggy: Oh god did I forget to do anything? I mean. I mean. I guess it won't. Matter, right? If I forgot to pay a bill or fed the neighbour's cat or turned off the stove but -
Matt: Breathe.
Foggy: I'M GOING TO BE NOT BREATHING IN A MINUTE. Is it - going to hurt?
Matt: Just a little, at first. It'll be mostly like falling asleep.
Foggy: I'm not going to be shredded and dragged by Hellhounds?
Matt: No, they're all loaned out for other deals right now.
Foggy: ...
Matt: *nervous laughter* I'm. I'm totally kidding.
Foggy: Oh, god. You're not kidding.
Matt: Don't worry, really. I'll be with you the whole time. I'll take care of you. You trust me, right?
Foggy: *choked laugh* God help me, I shouldn't, you're Satan, but I do.
Matt: Then let's go.
Yes yes yesssssssssssssssssssss. Foggy panicking. Matt awkwardly trying to pretend the shredded-by-Hellhound thing was a joke. Foggy trusting him. I CANNOT HANDLE MY EMOTIONS.

THIS IS SO PERFECT I COULD CRY
I'm mixing my fandoms now but I'm imagining the demons like the War Boys from Mad Max Fury Road now, like, toppling over themselves to please Matt and then toppling over themselves to please Foggy now too. Like one day Foggy's like "Uh ... good morning?" to one of them, and like, Dave the Demon runs off like "HE TALKED TO ME HE LOOKED AT ME AND YET I AM ALIVE! HE SPARED ME!" and all the other demons are like "oooooo, you have been honored!"

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh. I WANT THIS STORY SO BADLY.
I AM A HORRIBLE PERSON SOMETIMES. I WANT THIS STORY TOO. SO MUCH.

I'm a Foggy/Matt fan, but if you feel the story should be gen, I have no objections. I like friendship and ships no prob! =)

A la the first time he went out, he hears the situation and takes it into his own hands, anger heightened by the fact that it's a priest. Either the scene itself &/or Matt telling someone, be it in confession with Father Lantom or just breaking down to Claire or Foggy.

OH my god so now i am ridiculously excited, knowing that there will be sexxxytymes. :P (no pressure!)

Yeah, I imagine it'll take Foggy a little bit of time to really come to terms with the fact that Matt isn't going to go all devil wings and burning touch on him and really is just... Matt. XD

--- I am laughing so hard I actually have tears in my eyes, this is so fucking amazing, I love it. XD I can't tell if I want to write it or draw it, and I don't really have time for either, but I WANT IT.

“You did what now,” Matt hisses, and the tentacle – no, two tentacles now – snap viciously.

“Dude, you’ve been ‘out sick’ for two days. We’ve been ‘out sick’ for two days. The hell was I supposed to tell her?”

Matt’s on his stomach, which is the only thing currently preventing him from shooting a particularly withering look somewhere in the ballpark of the left side of Foggy’s jaw. “Hmm, I dunno. Let me take a wild guess: ‘Hey, Karen, we think we’ve both come down with a crippling case of strep and we might just cause the next New York Crisis if we step outside, maybe take the week off while we shovel down antibacterials’?”

There’s a long silence.

“Fuck,” Foggy sighs.

“Yeah, ‘fuck’ seems about the appropriate response,” and Matt kicks Foggy’s leg. The tentacles swat Foggy’s thigh irritably.

“I think I’m gonna name this one Matthew Junior, since it’s the original and best,” Foggy announces, letting the first one curl around his thumb affectionately. “Also because it likes me the best.”

“Franklin Nelson you are not naming my tentacles,” Matt groans, his head back underneath a pillow.

“Aw, so you admit they're tentacles? That's wonderful. Acceptance is the first step to recovery, y'know. This other one’ll be called Morrissey, since it’s an unnecessarily hateful little shit.”

Lobbing another pillow at Foggy’s head, Matt grumbles, “I hate you.”
