I wasn't a fan of Shadowland. I thought it was a great idea that they really dropped the ball on as far as execution. But Reborn made everything worth it!

So, I kinda want to write something based on this, but knowing me, it would turn into actual Matt/Daredevil via alternate universe shenanigans, so I will humble second instead.

OMG how did you figure out so many secret weaknesses of mine?

Pretend boyfriends! Neck massages! The phrase "I want to make love to you" (you have no idea what that one does to me, I just about melted)!

I love that Matt always asks for Foggy's consent before trying something new. That seems like something he'd do - I mean, as a blind guy, he probably knows how much it sucks when someone invades your personal space. It's also just super sweet, especially when you take his supersenses into account and that Foggy finds them a little invasive ... So instead of just reading Foggy's heartbeat or something, he asks him directly. (At least that's how I read it? It just stood out to me somehow.)

This is everything I could have asked for, nonny. Thank you so, so much for the fill!

I just need it, okay. In basically any way you can think of.

Maybe Foggy is bi and really attracted to Matt, but put it aside when he realized Matt wouldn't be into him and hasn't thought about it since college. Maybe Marci finds out and decides to woo Matt for him.

Cue Matt being really, really confused about Marci's sudden attention in him and thinking she's up to something devious, Foggy not realizing what she's doing, and Marci deciding that both of these knuckleheads belong to her, now, thank you very much.

Just dropping in to say I am working on filling this. But the darn thing has grown a mind of its own, and it's getting looooong and complicated, and it's become more of a Matt-is-being-smothery-mother-henned-by-everyone kind of thing, and I can't stop writing it because it's sucked me in. Matt Murdock's apartment is a beautiful place to spend your mini mind-vacation in.

So bear with me, okay? I might have it beta-read too, because English isn't my native language, but maybe not if I'm too impatient. I think I'm gonna need another week at least to wrap it up properly. We shall see how it goes.

And because I'm evil, I'm gonna give you a little preview taste. :-P

When he awoke, the world was swimming in a mist of hazy hues Matt wasn’t used to. There were no contours to his quasi-vision, or even shapes. Just a massive swirl of undulating color, a throbbing headache that had migrated to the back of his head, and what felt like hundreds of needles piercing the right side of his torso.

His t-shirt was clinging to his back, and he suspected he was running a fever. An involuntary moan escaped his mouth when he tried to prop himself up on his elbows.

“Oh, look, sleeping beauty has awoken,” he could hear Foggy’s voice drifting nearer.

Matt wasn’t in the mood for light-hearted banter. “What time is it?”

“Almost six.”

“In the evening?”

“Yeah.”

“I slept through the whole day?”

“Yeah, you kinda did. Although I’m not sure I would call all of it sleeping. You never used to thrash this much in law school. How are you feeling?”

“Not great.”

“Yeah, I’ll say. You’re running a fever, by the looks of it. Which isn’t all that unusual, if the interwebs can be believed. And by the way, I’ve had chickenpox, so apparently I’m reasonably safe. Unlike you, I remember every miserable minute of it. I was ten or eleven, and it royally sucked.”

“You did internet research on shingles?” Matt groaned.

“I’ve been here for hours, with only my laptop to keep me company. Can you really blame me?”

“Learn anything useful? Like an instant cure?”

“Hate to break it to you, but from what I’ve read, you’re gonna be looking forward to at least two weeks of this. Flu-like symptoms, pain, burning, tickling, tingling, numbness, blisters, itching. Did I mention swollen lymph nodes and chronic pain?”

“Enough,” Matt cut him off. “You’re not helping."

*shrugs*

I'm not complaining, I just see where the above anon is coming from.

XD True, but that doesn't quite fit the plot that's brewing. Basically, it would be a "Karen finds Matt's suit, Foggy covers for Matt and then Matt's alternate self accidentally winds up in his universe and has to pretend to date Matt to keep Karen from suspecting anything" ~~I can't seem to stop writing Matt/Alternate Matt XD~~

Okay, so I'm totally not sure where I might be going with this, but basically it could look like this?

They are in a club and Foggy's describing the 'mating dance of the common bro, now happening live at the table behind you' in such excruciating detail (and in such a low mumble into his glas that Matt is the only one in this room who could be aware that he's even speaking – to anyone else, he supposes, the scene has to look like Foggy's steadily chugging his drink and ignoring Matt, who doesn't have anything in front of him, head meekly bowed and waiting for his partner to finish), that the 'meek and cowed' posture of Matt is actually more of a desperate clawing of fingernails into his thighs to prevent himself from laughing out loud. He hopes that this comes off more 'frightened' than 'halfway into a giggle fit', anyway.

„Foggy,“ he tries to hiss under his breath without his lips twitching, „Stop it, you're ruining our facade!“

Foggy, for his credit, at least stops for a moment, regards Matt – and then seems to have an idea.

„I thought I told you to shut up!“, he barks, voice definitely more slurred than it should be after just a single beer, and, after a second of slight surprise, Matt takes up the cue effortlessly.

„What-? No, Franklin, I didn't say anyth-“

„I said, be quiet!“ Foggy bangs the bottle onto the table, Matt dutifully flinching at the noise.

„God! Let a man drink after a hard day's work. You sit around uselessly in the house all day anyway, what would you even know about stress?!“ Foggy sneers, and Matt can hear the muscles in his face pull into what probably is a contemptous expression. For once he isn't sorry he can't see his friend's face properly – he doesn't think he wants to know what Foggy looks like, looking at him like that.

Matt bows his head again. „Sorry, Franklin,“ he mumbles.

„Yeah, you better be,“ Foggy grumbles, raising his bottle again. „Honestly, can't hold a conversation worth shit, but always wants to open his mouth.“
„Sorry, Franklin,“ Matt repeats again – this, at least, is a phrase that will always come easy to him, although usually it would be 'Sorry, Foggy' – but in truth, this is actually all going quite nicely. They haven't been here for even twenty minutes, but their little tiff already does not seem to have gone unnoticed. While they were play-acting, Matt thinks he already sensed at least three heads turning their way, and one or two heartbeats picking up in a flare of irritation. None of them spiking in a way that would suggest the person is actually a killer in search of his next murder victim and had just found it in Foggy, but at least it appears like they seem genuine enough.

....maybe? Yes/No? My main problem is I really have no idea who this mystery killer could be and whether he/she has some sort of specific motivation for their murdering spree. And where they're hiding and how Matt and Foggy will eventually catch their eyes at their outings. Ideas?

It appears we share many of the same weaknesses. Who knew? (On a side note: I've never written a fic with pretend!boyfriends before, I've just enjoyed a lot of other people's fics with that trope. It was quite fun to do.)

Yeah, the consent thing seems like something Matt would be very careful about, both because of what you mentioned about his own experiences, and because in both of his lines of work, he's had reason to encounter a lot of people who weren't given so many chances to say, "No," and have someone listen. And he likes giving Foggy the things that he wants, so he always wants to confirm what those things are - if that makes sense. (In short, you interpreted that perfectly.) I'm really glad you liked that part.
