COMMUNITY VOTE - Reposting Prompts

How do you feel about prompts being reposted? Should it be banned entirely, or only allowed after a certain number of rounds have passed, or something else? Similar prompts will always be allowed, because it would be ridiculous to try to ban those, but prompts that are copied word for word from previous rounds are up for debate.

We do have most of the prompts from post #1 and about half of post #2 up on the Delicious account, so old prompts don't just disappear into the ether.

Mod will have the final say, but I'm all about the path of least resistance.

ETA: Okay! So, tentative new rules:

We'll have a week long prompt freeze/fill fest once prompt post #3 is finished. If that goes well, we'll have one at the end of every round.

Reposting prompts will only be allowed after one round has passed - i.e., prompts from post #2 won't be allowed to be reposted until post #4, and can only be reposted once per post. You must provide a link to where it's been previously posted (mainly because it makes it a lot easier for us managing the delicious account, but also because previous discussion on a prompt can be very inspiring).

If a prompt has been filled, you can't repost it. Prompt something else.

Yay I think the fill fests are a good idea

I'm not sure which would be better out of those options though...I guess if there's a set number of fills it might have an effect on the quality? Like ppl rushing to fill stuff just so the next round can start kind of thing...just a thought, I don't really know tho?

I think the time limit is the better idea

Here's a rules post you can use as a guideline. http://hetalia-kink.livejournal.com/5559.html

Maybe for a week every month do a prompt freeze/fill fest?

I don't think you should do a set number of fills, a time limit seems like the best deal (maybe for a week)? But a fill fest is a great idea.

The prompt freeze/fill is awesome, though a week time limit would be better than a set number of fills.

Honestly, I'd much prefer a set time limit. That would put everyone on an even footing and wouldn't run the risk of a number being filled in less than a day (which might sound good to some, but let's be honest, some people would just be posting half-assed fills so they can get back to posting prompts because they're incapable of actually exercising patience).

Here's what I'd do: One initial fill fest ASAP, which will only end when the fills:prompts ratio gets to wherever you want it (1 is a little unreasonable, but maybe .5? .3?). Once that's over, we have a fill fest at a set interval for a set time period (One week out of each month? One week out of every two months? Whatever).

this is a good point, and probs a good compromise for all the above arguments, but anon, chill tf out. you're not the mod. calm down.

Not ayrt but...they were just making a suggestion, didn't seem that extreme...

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that is way too much math. Can you explain the ratios thing?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Basically the ratio of fills to prompts means the number of fills divided by the number of prompts. A ratio of one would mean that there's an equal number of fills and prompts, so all prompts are filled. That's unreasonable for obvious reasons. A ratio of .5 would mean that for every two prompts, one is filled, and a ratio of .3 would mean that for every 3 prompts, one is filled (yes, I rounded, shoot me.)

I don't know, that still seems a little unreasonable. I don't think any kink meme in the world has ever had one of every three prompts filled. (Of course, I don't understand math, but it seems unlikely.) I just think there should be a time limit and that's that, because it's easier that way.
