ayrt: yeah, you're totally right!! i get that "was anything ever real with us?" was supposed to be incredibly impactful for matt and for the audience (and it was) but the implications of that particular phrasing... i mean, there are a thousand other things that would have been just as impactful but with a more platonic connotation. two men talking about betrayal and hurt would talk differently as friends than if they were/had been romantically involved. that sentence has very specific and clear romantic intimations and it would straight-up be bad writing to write that line for two straight male friends.
it's only subtext if it's subtle +100000000 literally it's all text no sub mostly, you don't have to reach at all to come to a not-straight-more-than-friends conclusion. i'll be super disappointed if nothing comes of it, there's been too much evidence for nothing to come out of it.
oh boy, i have so many questions about fisk/wesley too!! there was definitely subtext with those two (actual subtext too, not matt/foggy ""subtext"" lmao)
