Yeah, usually I'm pretty meticulous about giving my best to be medically accurate in my stories, but I had Foggy disinfect Matt's wounds with some kind of spray. I've now changed it to saline, since you're right, and that makes total sense. And we won't ask where Foggy got it from. Let's just assume Matt keeps it around, or Claire left it there for future use. :-)

(OP) I'm not talking about disinfecting, which is specifically a chemical process, just cleaning/flushing, which is a mechanical one. Cleaning is by far the more important of the two in wound care. Saline is a very weak antiseptic, and isn't really better than copious amounts of tap water with a decent amount of water pressure, unless the water is contaminated.

If I were Matt (or his bestie), would personally stockpile Betadine (povidone-iodine, which can be bought at the drug store or farm supply store without a prescription) over saline. Thoroughly clean the wounds with water first, then treat with a light wipe (or spray) of dilute Betadine to disinfect.
