Me, I prefer the short-ish prompts. I rarely read the long discussions, unless something grabs my attention, or it's a prompt that I posted. As for specificity of prompt detail or bonus points, that really depends on the prompt. I know that's not a good answer, but sometimes I work well with a very specific prompt, sometimes something vague will spark an idea and make me go, "Okay, cool, I can write this."
For me, it usually starts with a kind of little mind-movie of what I wanna write. I call this a "scene flash", cause a scene--complete with visual representation and often dialogue--will flash in my head. All I need to do is sit down, go there in my head, and write it down as it plays in front of my mind's eye. I don't know if others work the same way.
