Is daredevil anyone else's first foray into mcu fandom? Like, I like marvel films in general and avengers is great but I've never been fandom-level-interested in this kind of thing....

I guess it depends on how you define fandom?

For me Thor was the first marvel thing I really /really/ got into but I didn't interact with the fandom very much or at all.

Yeah I mean I loved iron man and Thor a lot, like I've always been into superhero films (at least since those first Spider-Man films hehe my heart <3) so I guess I've always been a fan but I've never actually interacted with the fandom before. It just didn't appeal to me at that particular level :')

Actually yeah, it probably is. I mean, I saw Iron Man when it came out and Avengers, but this is the first property that's made me write insane amounts of fanfiction.

Ahaha good, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Cos I'm still not tHAT interested in mcu as a whole and like I probably wouldn't include other characters outside of daredevil in my fics...but I absolutely cannot stop writing for daredevil, it's ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is that I don't even like the show that much (I think a lot of it is super problematic in the way that the MCU tends to be), but something about it has plugged into a long-disused port in my brain.

It's probably related to all the pretty boy pain/crying.

Haha yeah I've spoken to quite a few people who've responded to it in the same way. Like no doubt it has problems, but I just sort of...thoroughly enjoyed it...definitely more than the films in mcu anyway. I think a big part of it is to do with the format - I find it way easier to get into TV series.

And yeah, the crying. Oops.

YES.

like. i can talk a bunch about all the ways that the show makes me go ...:/ but at the same time. i have accidentally written like...A LOT OF WORDS about this stupid show and these crying nerds.

Amen, nonnie, amen.

Daredevil is not only the only the only Marvel-thing I know (aka I never watched or read anything else) it's actually the only superhero-thing I know (OK friends dragged me into Spiderman, The Dark Knight and incidentally Ben Affleck-Daredevil and I was pretty unmoved by all of them). It's just that superhero-y stuff is generally full of tropes I don't particularly care about and tbh I also don't care much about them in Daredevil but I am sufficiently distracted by the pretty, the friendship and the feels in general to not care...

That makes me probably the black sheep on this meme. Sorry.

Not at all, nonny!

Sigh, the dangers of watching something because the star is hot. :(

Ayrt. The things I have watched for hot actors. And to be fair Daredevil isn't even close to being one of the worst of the lot...

Na, I've been in MCU for a while now. Though I basically just read fanfic. I'm pretty vanilla with preferences for most of the MCU though, compared with some other fandoms. Steve/Tony or Steve/Bucky and I'm set.

first-timer here. i enjoy the marvel movies but i've never been into them as far as fandom is concerned. i've been fanfiction-level interested in a couple things but i've never kinkmeme'd or been this actively obsessed with a series. i think the reason this is my first time in the mcu fandom is that it's easy to forget (for me at least) that daredevil is a part of the mcu, they're like street-level, real, people. it's hard to explain- i have to keep reminding myself that daredevil is a superhero and i have to remind myself that the red costume doesn't look ridiculous because it's exactly the sort of thing any other superhero would wear.

I was somewhat active on avengerkink for a while back when the first Avengers film came out. Funnily enough, it was watching the second one that helped me end up here.

It's a little weird in my case actually, because I've been reading fanfic since I was 14 or so (since the internet was a dial-up thing, because I am an old lady) and writing it since then too. (Like, since the days when the X-Files and Buffy originally aired).

And I have been obsessed with the MCU for a while, and it is actually what got me heavily back into fic.

But this is my first time ever participating in the fanfic community in a meaningful way outside of just reading and posting fic. Never really considered any of the challenges, Big Bangs or other things that go on. Never lurked livejournal or knew kink memes were even a thing. Never wrote fics for other people. Etc.

So weirdly, Daredevil has been surprisingly intense for me in terms of my level of fandom involvement. And this meme is just absolutely THE BEST. I have people on here who I actually know the fandom names of (despite it being anon), and who I now talk to on AO3 or Tumblr. And I have written with more frequency and intensity than ever before, and actually managed to *gasp* finish some WIPs for freaking once. I feel like a real writer here.

*leaves kink meme forever*
