ah, I see. Though I also think at least part of that problem is also Ao3's as of yet lack of a PM feature. There were often occasions when I would have loved to chat with someone on there, but I didn't want to have an entire conversation on a public space. You can exchange tumblers, I guess, but I don't have one, and sharing any other info in public would be pretty, uh. So I guess I can see how that would happen.
Yeah, I can see that could sometimes genuinely happen - something sparks a tangent, and you just keep going because you don't have another forum for talking to this person in.
This person I'm talking about is doing stuff like, "oh hey, how did that exam end up going for you today?" Where it's obvious that they have the kind of relationship where they COULD be talking to someone about this stuff outside of ao3, but they just keep on chattering there... And doing it a lot... That's fluffing to me.
