I'd never thought about Matt's many-paternal-figures issues like that before! Very interesting. Because that is the cycle he goes through: he wants to be 'good', which means listening to his various father figures, but his own... idk, principles? emotions? righteousness? always comes through in the end, even if it means being disobedient to them. And then there's so much guilt, because no matter how much Matt believes in what he does, he still feels so bad about doing it. :( Luckily for us though, Matt's daddy issues translate very nicely into smutty fanwork <3 lmao
Aaaand guess who finally got around to watching E05! This is going to be a massive comment, hahah, sorry D:
I forgot how much I love the description of Matt's senses in this show - e.g. compared to the comics, where there's an honest-to-god magic radar sense. It makes him just a little more human rather than superhuman, matching the style of the show.
The whole exchange about sharks in the N&M office was hilarious. It was so cute and so cheerful! And Matt's little moment of small talk with Brett, aww. I want them all to be happy forever.
This was great too: "You chopped Anatoly's head off!" / "... And now I want his brother." Just, all the things that could be running through Matt's head in that tiny pause.
I liked how they had the scene where Matt needed Claire to read the text on the burner. And oh my god - I just don't think I can let myself fall in love with someone who's so close to becoming what he hates. / You're right. You shouldn't. my heart ;_; (It made a good parallel to Vanessa and Fisk, though. Claire and Matt just ended because Claire learnt more about Matt; Vanessa learns more about Fisk and now they're getting together.)
Speaking of those two, I actually love them together. We already know about Fisk, but when they're standing by the window with the explosions happening, that's the first moment where you see Vanessa's true colours - like wow, this is why they fell in love and fit together so perfectly. It's also interesting, I think, how Fisk justifies it. Because yeah, the people who kidnapped that boy were killed in the explosions... but that same boy and his father could've been killed too. As we saw with Foggy and Karen, Fisk isn't exactly concerned about collateral damage. He's okay with destroying the whole city for his metaphorical 'rebirth' plan, not just the bad stuff in it.
I realised another thing! When Gao's delivery guy sets off the bomb, Matt reacts right before it goes off - was he keeping track of everything going on in there, the whole time he was grappling outside with that guy guarding the door? Because, wow. That's seriously impressive.
And then the episode ends with a big fat cliffhanger. Aaaaahhhhhhh.
ayrt - YAY! I've been away a little longer than expected and came back to allll the insights! Ah my god, you're awesome. Nooo, don't say your comment is long, you'll give me anxiety because I'm wordswords wordy.
First, smutty fanworks are the best. God bless fandom because there's so many smutty fanworks happening at the mo, we're blessed by all the little porny gods.
Maybe the best thing about Matt is that he's the closest-to-unpowered superhero on the map. TBH I'm a big enough shameless perve that I like that he has no super strength because I'm very fond of the manhandling, and he gets manhandled all the damn time. I love that it doesn't stop him from defending his city, though. Slow him down, maybe, but doesn't stop him. Bring on S2 with more manhandling and apparently Frank Castle chaining Matt down, unf.
YES, that scene with Claire! I'm a little discomfited that she brought out the L word so fast. I mean, they barely knew each other, they've shared one kiss, and even though the attraction is there I was surprised as Matt when Claire says she couldn't fall in love with him. But Matt's cold 'you shouldn't' as he walks away, augh! No Matt noooo, tell people you care about them before you end up dead in a trash bin!
I'm down with Wilson and Vanessa, too. I think they're made for each other in a really amazing/frightening power couple way. In the comics Vanessa and Matt end up having a really weird respectful frienemy type relationship where Vanessa regards Matt sort of like The Other Woman in Fisk's life. Fisk is so obsessed with Matt/DD that she blames her marriage problems on Matt. I'm seriously hoping something like that shows up in S2 lol.
I barely noticed there is a Wilson/Vanessa moment that mirrors Matt and Karen later. When Vanessa admits she has a gun in her bag (I like that Vanessa and Karen both know firearms - these are not defenceless women), she dares Fisk to keep lying to her about who he is, what he does. 'I know you're a dangerous man.' 'Do you want to leave?' But she stays knowing exactly who Wilson Fisk is and she becomes his counterbalance, they become a team.
Karen tells Matt later she thinks she made a mistake by coming to work for Nelson & Murdock and Matt asks her if she wants to leave and she says no. Karen does mirror Matt in so many ways, and they're both dangerous just like Wilson and Vanessa. Vanessa says she won't let anyone take Wilson away from her, and Karen kills Wesley when he threatens to go after Matt (and Foggy). I am honest to god dying to see S2 and find out whether Karen finds out about Matt being DD and whether the avocados find out about Karen killing Wesley.
Welcome back! <333 And okay! We shall be super-wordy together then. :D
Oh my god yes, the manhandling!! I love that. It was so wonderfully gratuitous in the famous hallway fight. And I could sing praises all day about how lovely Matt looks when he's beaten up. He gets knocked down, but hell yeah does he get back up again. And yeah, I'm super excited for all the fic that scene with the chains is gonna generate ^^;
I found it a bit jarring that Claire brought it up so soon too, but not gonna lie, it still tore me up so bad. It just hurts thinking about all the lost potential between them, you know? And it looked like Claire was really hoping for a different response from Matt, but with Matt accepting it like that, it was kind of like a sign to her that... yeah, their relationship just wouldn't work out, no matter how much they might've both wanted it.
Speaking of Matt and his loved ones, I loved that line he had with Karen after the run-in with Gao - his breaking-point realization that he can't do things alone. It felt like such a big character moment. I hope they keep going with it in S2.
The way the Vanessa/Fisk/Matt dynamic works in the comics, omg. I haven't read all of them, but Matt as The Other Woman is exactly what it's like. Isn't there a whole conversation where Matt confronts Fisk about how they're responsible for ruining Vanessa's marriage/life? Anyway, with the cast we have going for S2, I'm kinda sad that Vanessa and Fisk don't seem to be returning in any prominent way, because they were absolutely brilliant.
I hadn't noticed that parallel with Vanessa and Karen! Nice. But oh mannnn that scene with Karen is heartwrenching. I mean, that entire set of episodes was totally heartwrenching in general - the aftermath of Karen killing Wesley, and Nelson v Murdock, and... wow, when life falls apart for these characters it really falls apart. I felt so awful for Karen too, because she REALLY needs the support of Matt and Foggy who are, as she says, the only good things in her life, but they're in the middle of such a huge falling out that they almost don't notice.
Season 2 speculation time! I'm not sure if Karen will find out about DD (as much as I really, really want it to happen... preferably with her figuring it out herself and a big angsty confrontation and and and... /has half a fic already mentally written) but I definitely think Karen killing Wesley will come up again, with the Punisher on the scene. I'm actually really looking forward to how she responds to the Punisher's type of vigilantism. There are just so many possibilities, what with her mysterious past (that may have involved shooting someone before?) and the investigative angle she'll probably be continuing.
Yo! I'm super jazzed when I come back in here and read your comments. Like, you don't even KNOW, but thanks for being such an awesome KMer!
The thing with Claire was bittersweet. See, I adored Claire SO MUCH... ok, full disclosure: Thing is, I'm such a hardcore comics fan that I came into the series with a bias against Karen because of how badly her characterisation had been handled in the comics. All my disgust should have been aimed at the writers, I know, but I still had that little something where I just want Matt and Karen as far apart as possible. And the Karen in the series is SO MUCH BETTER than comics Karen, so much better. They're obviously related, and MCU Karen does some things in the series that make me seethe (every character pisses me off at least once), but mostly I really loved and appreciated MCU Karen and tried my best to accept her at face value. I failed a tiny bit, but I tried, and during the rewatchings I'm really starting to love Karen Page the way they intended.
Claire, otoh, was fresh and new and bright and shiny and FFS kinda perfect for Matt? I mean, if we're discounting all the other Matt pairings, Claire and Matt could've been so goooood together. Claire even has some dark edges, too, and I liked that! But no, they wouldn't have worked out. Claire crying as she watches Matt leave? NO. Matt basically telling Claire bye forever on the phone and her scared voice calling for him and the line is dead? GDI, MY HEART. STOP. Even if they tried, really tried, no I don't think they'd have worked out.
Because Matt, idek, Matt has so many of his own issues to deal with, he's still so broken in so many jagged ways and none of that is his fault but he's embraced it for so long, he doesn't know how to let people love him in a healthy way. One of his defining characteristics in the comics is he wants to be loved so damned badly... by someone, I suspect he'd accept almost anybody if they sold him on it, that when people are attracted to him even if it's just sexually it's like... he latches onto that but in the wrong ways. Like he can only love himself through other people's eyes. If he doesn't have anyone to love him (god bless Foggy, I swear), he just doesn't do well, his self-worth is too cataclysmically damaged. And ultimately he cycles through that whole 'it didn't work out' thing with his partners because he's always looking for the wrong thing in people. He tries, lord knows he tries, but he just... wants to be wanted so much, and maybe the closest he ever finds are those daddy figures (like Ben Urich in the comics) or the ones who want all the control in the relationship and it comes across to Matt as care/love (Elektra and arguably Frank Castle). I adore Matt, he's such a fabulous character, and kinda perfect for fandom considering he's basically a very pretty mosaic of broken bits. Nice fuel for so much fiction.
Oh! Oh! I would be very happy if Fisk and Vanessa would return in S2. VERY HAPPY. (lmk if you want spoilers regarding s2 *cough* because I can help with that.)
S2 speculation! *rubs hands together gleefully* The very best decision S1 gave me was letting Foggy know that Matt=DD before Karen (opposite of the comics). That said, I want Karen on board now! I want them to be a legit team against the world! I want Matt to have proper support like any real superhero! And I really, really don't want Karen (or even Elektra) to be killed by Bullseye in S2. I will be super pissed.
But yes, I do think Karen killing Wesley will be addressed in S2. I kinda think Karen will be on board with Frank's style of punishment (kill em allll! dooo eeeet!) and Foggy will stick to his NO KILL, KILL BAD, and they're going to be the proverbial angel and devil on Matt's shoulder when he starts to question himself again and whether he's doing the right thing. (Is there even a chance in this MCU that DD would ever turn into the Punisher? I mean seriously? I don't think so. I like that they're toying with it, I want everybody to act the hell out of it, I want to watch Matt be swayed by Frank Castle a little bit at least, I want Frank to break out the rubber bullets because Matt asks him to not kill just this one time, but I still don't think Marvel is ever going to allow Matt Murdock to be a stone cold killer or allow the Punisher to ever show mercy against Bigger Bads.) Now, considering The Punisher is getting his own series (omgomgomg), he and Matt would have to come to some sort of uneasy alliance eventually. Frank has to be accepted as a legit murderous antihero while DD has to be allowed to remain the angelic blind dude dressed like the devil who defends his city. TBH I'm almost expecting Matt to be swayed more by Karen to Frank's way of thinking, especially if Matt is coming to really love Karen in S2, because Matt never thinks clearly when his heart is involved. And considering Karen is already a killer, well.
Aww! The feeling is 100% mutual. I'm so excited whenever I see a new comment from you :D
OMG. I feel your rage at comics!Karen. I started the other way around (Netflix Karen first, then moved to the comics) and I'm always so upset at how they treat her in the comics. It's THE WORST. It was so jarring to move from MCU Karen, who has her own story and her own actual personality, to comics Karen who seemed to be treated as only either a) vague romantic interest or b) man-pain generator. /raaage.
Matt. Matt, Matt, Matt. He breaks my heart, that man. :( Combine that with his canonical issues with depression and mental health, and that makes an extremely worrying picture. Full disclaimer that I've actually only read the comics starting from after the antichrist baby thing in volume 2, and only skimmed most of it until Waid's run, but I can see that. I can definitely see that in some parts of the MCU version, for sure. And that perspective gives a whole new appreciation for where Matt is, headspace-wise, at the end of volume 4, with how he wholeheartedly recognizes Foggy and Kirsten's love for him, and how they all have each other's backs. It's absolutely the healthiest Matt's ever been, after the horrible rollercoaster that was his life. (And then they lived happily ever after... :'( I wish.)
spoilers for s2? oh yes pleeeeease! please. i've been so desperate for more s2 information lately. we need a new trailer, stat.
The thing about the identity reveals is that I feel like, now that Foggy knows about DD, the writers might keep Karen in the dark so there's still some element of secret identity going on. But I really hope they don't go down that path, honestly. I'm with you, I want them to be a team and work together! I do enjoy the identity shenanigans but there's only so many times Matt can say he fell down the stairs, and Karen is a smart woman. And I just want them to trust each other. Plus, there's just so much more they can do with the Karen/Matt relationship if Karen knows about Daredevil.
That angel/devil thing sounds PERFECT. I would really, really, really love if that were to be a theme in S2. I can imagine a lot of conflict for Karen too - she's killed before, to protect herself and people she loves, so there's every chance that she'll project any and all of Matt and Foggy's condemnations of the Punisher onto herself. I always think back to how much Foggy's offhand comment (something about no longer being human if you're a killer?) affected her after Wesley's death. If murder is always wrong, what does that make her? As for Matt becoming like the Punisher, I agree with you. I don't think it'll ever actually happen, because that's basically Daredevil's character on the line, but at the same time I want to see the push and pull and believe that he might actually go there, at least while the episodes are playing.
And then there's Elektra! From the sense I've been getting from interviews (**spoiler warning, I guess!), I feel like while the Punisher is pushing Matt to take his sense of justice for his city that single step further, Elektra will be getting him to kind of take a step back - to be more self-serving rather than self-sacrificing, to pursue his own goals rather than give everything up for Hell's Kitchen. Matt just needs to find the balance between the two, or at least find his own path that fits him best. Anyway, whatever happens, S2 will be a wild ride for him for sure.
I'll be back to answer this properly this weekend but spoilers ahoyyy! Can I white out text in here so ppl will have to highlight to read? Damn, I can't figure it out here, I think the tags are limited. OK, beware of one tiny but probably very important spoiler below. . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER .
During s2 filming, past the halfway point, Vincent D'Onofrio was sighted on the set. Marvel shut down any chatter about it right quick. But of course the conclusion that we came to was Fisk is either out of prison or pulling strings from inside. The big guess is he finds out about Karen killing Wesley and also that Matt is DD and sends Elektra to kill Karen, Matt, and Foggy. I'm guessing if they're hiding the appearance of Fisk this hard, then they might actually be hiding Bullseye, too. And I would love to see Bullseye and Elektra go after our avocados and have Frank step in to help save them. I expect Elektra's allegiances to change like quicksilver since that's what she's good at, but I'm hoping she sides with Matt eventually. Idk idk but I have massive excite.
(Stealing your spoiler tags, lol. iirc, there used to be white text but Dreamwidth got rid of it, for anon posts at least.)
. . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER .
!!!! oh my god. I can't believe I haven't heard about this. Marvel's PR team must be really good.
Gahhh, I'm so scared for Karen and Elektra. I can absolutely believe that they're hiding Bullseye from us, and Bullseye's whole schtick is basically that he keeps fridging Matt's girlfriends D: I really, really hope they don't play that plot out. Or if they absolutely must, for whatever reason, then I hope the characters die for their own plot and not because they're connected to Matt (if that makes sense).
I'm taking Fisk's return as a sign that Vanessa will be back too, though. <333 They're the best evil power couple ever. Even if the show is actually just bringing Fisk to a court appearance or whatever, I want her to be there. At least just show her face for half a second. Please. haha
Sticking to the old school spoiler space: . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER .
Marvel has an ace (and all kinds of assholish) PR team, yeah. Right now they're encouraging speculation everywhere but going pretty far to keep anything official, especially pictures, off the internets. They're staaaarving us on purpose gearing up for S2. I kinda admire them but also kinda hate them, and kinda hate myself for admiring them? They're good. Those bastards.
V. D'Onof wasn't on set for the whole time so I'm down for a court appearance (with Vanessa, yesss) or even just scenes of him in prison. You KNOW he's going to find out who killed Wesley. But I know Marvel is hiding his appearance because he's not even on the DD IMDB page as showing up for S2 yet.
The only thing that holds me back on Bullseye appearing is we'd get almost no time for his obsession with Matt to be relevant to the season. I know not everything has to be based on the comics, but their history, omfg (I'm always going to be fond of Lester calling Matt 'little bitch'). The only villain more obsessed with Matt than Fisk is Lester and I'd really want to see that screwed up relationship start and just... evolve, I guess.
But where would they find the time? I know they were calling for Bullseye to be cast (Jason Statham would have been great if he'd not turned down the role) but then they went with Frank Castle instead. And then added Elektra who is apparently going to be manipulating the hell out of Matt in S2 (and Matt used to love Elektra so). There were some set pics that showed Matt and Elektra being chauffeured in what looked like Fisk's old entourage of mobile vehicles. But they freaking brought Stick back for 3 whole episodes and GDI, Stick trained both Elektra and Matt so where the hell does Stick and possibly Stone fit into this season? And where does Foggy and Karen get to have time, or Foggy, I guess, since Karen is kinda supposed to be doing the romance thing with Matt? Does Foggy get any screen time and backstory at all? Idk idk this isn't like S1 where they expected to only have the one season and used half of it to set up The Defenders and Iron Fist. This time it's all Daredevil and there is TOO MUCH, omg. I hope they make it work.
. . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER . . . SPOILER . I wonder if they'll use Fisk's appearance to set up stuff in season 3? Now that I think about it, he has to have more than an off-hand "btw this guy's still in jail" scene or else they wouldn't be keeping it under wraps like that, and in the S1 finale they had Fisk finally become the Kingpin so I'm expecting some pretty magnificent plotting from him. I'm going to die of a heart attack when he finds out who killed Wesley, tho. D:
I'm concerned about the amount of material they're stuffing into S2 too, but thinking about it, S1 would have superficially looked like a lot on paper as well (like, Kingpin + Stick + hints for K'un-Lun + The Hand + Gladiator, on top of what always needs to happen storyline-wise to introduce a new superhero) and they handled everything beautifully. There was still only one major storyline with Fisk vs Matt though, and a lot did get sidelined into vague hints for future seasons, so idk. You definitely have a point about Bullseye, they're gonna be pushed for time and I don't want them to rush that buildup of his scary obsessiveness when there's already so much going on.
We're going to be bombarded with new trailers and stuff this final month-and-a-half, it looks like. I tried to find the trailer release dates for the first season, and they seemed to mostly be out the month (and the fortnight!!) right before the season launch. I'm excited but everything feels so far away ;_;
This spoiler space might be a little useless but I'm gonna leave it there anyway.
SEASON 3?! Oh my god, I hadn't even thought of that! I'd kinda like to see Elektra show up and manipulate the ever loving hell out of Matt, dragging him back into her bed, etc, probably right after he's finally okay with flirting with Karen and thinking maybe there's a chance for them. Elektra shaking that up would be par for her course. I'm kinda down with Elektra manipulating Matt into making bad choices for himself and everyone around him, only to find out near the end that she was hired by Kingpin to get him to do exactly that. But my question is does Elektra know Matt is DD, or does she find out during the season?
And you are toootally right that on paper S1 looks like a hot mess, like how would they ever fit everything in there? In hindsight, the biggest problem I have with DD S1 is that they expected to only have one season and used 1/3 of it to set up Iron Fist and The Defenders. The amazing success of S1 and greenlighting a S2 immediately meant some disruption to The Defenders schedule. But if S2 sticks to the world of Matt Murdock and Marvel worries less about using him as a form of exposition for everything else, we should be in for an awesome season, yay!
o/ I'm going to comment a little upthread because we are wordy mofo's *high-five* and I had the chance to watch back to back episodes this weekend. Might take me a couple of days to get back in here, this responsible adult with a job thing sucks.
WRT your reaction to Karen in the comics, omg, yes, I don't even know how people went from watching the show to reading the comics because the characters are... both the same but also pretty different, Karen especially. You avoided the first DD run which is good, very good, because it starts out written by Stan Lee and he's got a great imagination but he writes crack. Sometimes slashy crack but mostly soap opera crack. A lot of it is about how much Karen is in love with Matt, and how Foggy loves Matt but is also jealous of him, particularly over Karen. The weirdly non-existent love triangle (that is kinda visible on the show) is in full effect for SO MANY ISSUES. Karen just wants to love and protect and take care of Matt (because he's hot and blind and if he ever said one encouraging word to her she'd be all over him) but Matt never pays her any attention because he knows Foggy is into her, and also he thinks she deserves someone better, she'd never love Matt anyway, blah blah blah. Karen has a crush on Daredevil, Karen is in love with Matt, but then she finds out Matt is Daredevil and her emotions immediately turn into NO, YOU ARE BLIND, STOP THIS NONSENSE, QUIT RIGHT NOW. The comic is definitely a product of its time and it gets worse before it gets better.
All of this to say that I'm sorry Kevin Smith fridged Karen, but I was relieved to see her out of the picture. I looooved Matt and Natasha Romanoff, they were a good pairing and they were ridiculously badass together, their relationship was more equal, and DD and Elektra were always fun when they were fighting together (hell, they're fun when they're fighting against each other) but I had suuuch hardcore NO feelings about comics Karen. Kudos to the show for getting me past that Karen to embracing the MCU Karen, like massive kudos, it's a miracle.
I will say the whole face-touching thing with Foggy put me off of Karen the first time I saw it, though, and that's one of the things I've never gotten over. Such a dick move, and my heart pretty much broke for Foggy. I can never decide if Karen did it on purpose trying to communicate that she wasn't interested in Foggy or she genuinely was using Foggy to surrogate for Matt? Like, who does that? But it's kinda hard to see that scene is a more positive light and I keep hoping I'm missing something! So if you have an opinion that's different, I'd love to hear it.
(just fyi I'm gonna reply to everything here and drop the spoiler space since we probably don't need it any more :D)
No worries! Such is life. Let me know what you thought of those two episodes! o/
The first DD comics - Ohh wow. "Soap opera crack" sounds right. That is... incredible amounts of unnecessary drama. "OTL It sounds like they kinda revived it for Daredevil Yellow, too (which I read a while ago, so I can't remember it all that well, but I remember not enjoying the role Karen was shoved into there either). As awkward as the dynamic between Nelson, Murdock & Page can be in the show sometimes, I can say I definitely prefer the show's version.
SPEAKING OF THE SHOW. That whole face-touching thing, hahaha. The first time I saw it, I think I had a totally different reaction to probably most of the fandom - it made me ship them as an OT3 like CRAZY, lmao. It was only after I read a few fandom posts about it and then rewatched the scene that I realized how weird it actually was, and how much it probably sucked for Foggy. D': Looking back, I must have had some serious shipper goggles on, but I had the impression that at the time of the date, Karen had a light crush on Matt and hadn't really noticed Foggy, while Foggy was mostly exasperated at Matt's attractiveness to women. Then they both seemed surprised by (and then surprisingly interested in) the impromptu date with each other, but also both a teeny bit hung-up on Matt - I mean, they talked about him so much! He was basically there in spirit, even if his body was still busy in the bombings. So when the face-touching happened, it felt to me like some bizarre excuse to touch each other without dropping the subject of Matt. I don't think Karen really thought it through. It seemed more like the idea just occurred to her in that moment and, as she often is, she was just more tenacious about it than most people would be.
...But like I said, shipper goggles. My interpretation doesn't make heaps of sense, admittedly. Emotionally, I'm still a little bit "omg yesss ot3!". Objectively, I think the surrogate-Matt angle was still the intention, given Karen's facial expressions when they were talking about it, and it was maybe written in to establish a love triangle, or at least establish Karen's attraction to Matt, at Foggy's expense. So I don't blame you at all for being put off by it.
Back to the comics: Yes, Matt's dynamics with Nat and Elektra are great! I've read more of Matt and Elektra, and I love it when they work together, whether in battle or just sparring. I also have a huge soft spot for Matt/Natasha because there was this one part in the Black Widow comics where... I think Natasha was daydreaming or dreaming or something? she was on a cruise with Matt and they were both so happy and omg. I don't know much about their relationship other than that, though...
I can't wait until Elektra turns up. I have my worries, but at the same time, all the interviews are giving off goooood vibes for me. I'm here for everything that you said - her manipulating Matt, pulling him into unhealthy stuff (sorry Matt), basically messing his life up while he's just holding on for the ride. omg, and Kingpin having something to do with it all behind the scenes! I was also imagining it from the angle of Elektra being hired to kill Daredevil, then her discovering later that it's Matt. But then, Elodie's interview also said Elektra first appeared because she "misses Matt", so... who knows!
I think S2 will have an even greater focus on only the world of Daredevil. With the success of both DD and JJ, and with how unexpected S2 was, Marvel will probably be more relaxed about trying to push the Defenders. That said, a couple of Easter Eggs slipped in a la Stilt-Man would still be fun. But yeah, whatever happens, it looks like it's gonna be awesome!
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-01-21 09:29 am (UTC)(link)Aaaand guess who finally got around to watching E05!
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 04:36 am (UTC)(link)First, smutty fanworks are the best.
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 09:16 am (UTC)(link)Oh my god yes, the manhandling!! I love that. It was so wonderfully gratuitous in the famous hallway fight. And I could sing praises all day about how lovely Matt looks when he's beaten up. He gets knocked down, but hell yeah does he get back up again. And yeah, I'm super excited for all the fic that scene with the chains is gonna generate ^^;
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-01-29 05:57 am (UTC)(link)The thing with Claire was bittersweet.
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-01-29 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)OMG.

Please. haha

We're going to be bombarded with new trailers and stuff this final month-and-a-half, it looks like. I tried to find the trailer release dates for the first season, and they seemed to mostly be out the month (and the fortnight!!) right before the season launch. I'm excited but everything feels so far away ;_;

Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-02-01 05:29 am (UTC)(link)WRT your reaction to Karen in the comics, omg, yes, I don't even know how people went from watching the show to reading the comics because the characters are... both the same but also pretty different, Karen especially.
Re: DD viewing #2139 and noticing new things
(Anonymous) 2016-02-02 10:14 am (UTC)(link)No worries!
