Maybe it's my age (I'm 22), but the one thing that bothers me most, of all the things Fisk says or does, is his whole little speech to Ben about people not caring about truth any more.
It's this bit: Ben Urich: People seek the truth no matter where they find it. Wilson Fisk: That may have been the case when you and I were young. This world around us is preoccupied with celebrity weddings and videos of cats. But complicated issues, issues that matter? They take too much focus. They take too much time away from texting and the thousand channels on the satellite dish.
That is the one thing that made me want to punch him, more than anything else. Well, probably not punch, I can't hit for shit and I'd die, but have a determined debate with him, and tell him why he's wrong.
It made Ben a bad reporter, actually. Almost all news media is researched, written, and circulated via computer. He should be able to use the latest resources available to him to stay in the game.
Cat videos have probably caused more good in the world than Fisk too. I mean how can you be evil when you're watching or recording Fluffy doing something cute?
OP: Yeah, I think it's all the stuff I've seen from various sources, that it's already a grating point for me, so on second watch of the series it was the one thing that really made me hate him :P
Yeah, I think there's a lot more to hate him for than *that*. What, being party to drugs, corruption, human trafficking, and homicide is dandy, but say something disrespectful about my generation's perceived inability to focus on large issues instead of small ones and I will completely understand why you're evil?!
Sorry, ignore me, I am just choking on the irony here.
Well you see a cross between Humpty Dumpty and Gomer Pyle sitting in a towncar talking business and you think "Of course he's into all that regular business crime with persuading and taking care of people and making an offer they can't refuse."
But this show constantly surprises us. Just as we were shocked by the sudden gruesomeness of the car door murder and unnerved by his eerie stare at the white painting, so too were we surprised by the juxtaposition of the strangling and the cat videos in a strange emotion known as lolwut. Even hearing him say the words 'cat videos' is absurd. Like hair colorists and fatherly love, they're just not things you would think exist in his strange world.
