truly an off-topic post about writing software

this is similar to the above post but i didn't want to hijack that anon's hunt. i'm new-ish to mac and i'm looking for a free writing program, i've no use for microsoft office at this point in time and i'm not looking for anything fancy but i'm struggling to track down an easy-to-use free writer and was wondering if anyone had any advice?

I was gonna say: Check if LibreOffice of OpenOffice have Mac versions. I'm a Windows user myself.

Big Huge Labs makes a cloud-based web app typewriter style program just called Writer that I adore. You can full-screen it to minimize distractions or turn on typewriter noises and it could not be simpler to figure out and get started with. No fancy features. Just dostraction-free writing and a save function.
