i don't drink either but yeah from what i've seen in america they're just called "mixed drinks." i asked my dad and he said they're also called cocktails sometimes.
see, that's the LOGICAL route but as matt's already got a bad track record when it comes to dead vs alive girlfriends and foggy dying would almost certainly plunge matt into a depression the likes of which we have never seen so i'm unfortunately resigned to kirsten being in worse trouble than foggy.
(not to say kirsten is worth less in comparison to foggy, it's just. matt's not great at keeping girlfriends even if they don't die and foggy is his Best Friend so Yikes)
I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's not a super wide spread thing but every time it comes up I just... feel a little less safe I guess. A little less like this community thinks I'm a real and valid person. IDK.
I want to make writers here aware of this post because I feel it's important and I'm interested to see what other people have to say about it I guess. It's been up for a while and...
Fuck it. I'm done justifying myself. Here it is, if you haven't seen it already.
1.) If you try to ask permission of anons from the kinkmeme you might never get replies form older fills because it's not worth it for those fillers to keep checking the thread for comments / praise. Diminishing returns and all that.
2.) It's definitely true that you don't need permission to rec. However, I think you should let the author know because authors tend to be really flattered and it makes them happy. Also it's nice to explain why there is an unusual influx of kudos or comments on a fic as this is perplexing.
Re: PSA: Wound care - Also can do some medical Q&A
I am and EMT and I feel stilly because I've made this mistake and, even though we don't really flush wounds (just slap some gauze over it so someone else can deal, since everywhere you are in my county you are 10 minutes away from a hospital) I'm still fairly certain I was taught to... well not do the thing.
XD
Thanks, anyway, this is a great reminder.
Re: PSA: Wound care - Also can do some medical Q&A
I don't know if you're tracking this thread, but I have some questions. I also have a tumblr and a tumblr / Ao3 / handle email if you would prefer to talk there?
Anyway, I'm writing a fic where there is an alien invasion (again) / large scale disaster and people get wind of it before hand. Instead of evacuating like everyone else, my character (who has super strength, a decent healing factor, EMT training as well as whatever other training he would have picked up from being on the front lines) packs a bag of medical supplies and stays.
What would this character pack (he can carry one of those big EMT bags and also a back pack. He'd have only what you can get over the counter)? And, I mean, I could go find my text book but web based information is better, can you link me to a page about doing triage like this?
See, I actually took the time to read the post the OP linked to, including the tags, and that's how I know that the OP regularly uses text to speech software and proooobably has a more accurate take on the limitations of t2s software than your average fic writer, nonny.
Do you use text to speech software? Do you have differing thoughts that could add to the conversation? Why not share those, instead of being a jerk for no reason.
I know we have some Brits or non-American-English speakers on this board, so I just wanted to remind people that in American-English is's spelled "mom." Otherwise your characters are going to sound British.
I'm sorry that I came off as a jerk in my original reply, I should have elaborated on my opinions right off the bat instead of trying to be pithy.
My brother has used text to speech programs for as long as I can remember, it's not as personal an experience but I'm very familiar with a lot of them and how they've evolved over time. My problem with the post in question wasn't with the experiences they shared, which could very well help people write interesting things, it's with the attitude (ESPECIALLY prevalent in those tags) that imagining Matt might not enjoy using t2s isn't just wrong but it's straight up ableist and everyone else is ignorant and hurtful for writing it. Would people benefit from more research when they write fic? Absolutely, always, on just about every matter, I imagine. Is op the only one who is allowed to interpret how Matt feels about things because they personally feel that way about those things? I genuinely hope not.
As an aside, Matt Murdock specifically might have issues with using audio given his comic book fantasy enhanced senses. We also see him using braille readers/braille in general onscreen more often than we see him with headphones in. His characterization can and should take more into consideration than someone else's personal experiences, and having him feel a different way when everything else is taken into consideration is just as valid.
I like always-a-girl, because sometimes I don't want to specify if the character is cis or trans, or what they were assigned at birth. Sometimes I just want to write/prompt a version of a character who identifies as female, and I want to leave room for people to interpret that character as either cis or trans, because their status as cis or trans is not actually relevant to the story.
For instance, if I prompt "always-a-girl!Matt, cunnilingus" that could be cis!girl Matt, or post-SRS trans!girl Matt, and I don't want to rule out either possibility. Or, "always-a-girl!Matt, clothes shopping." That story could work with girl!Matt being cis or trans.
(frozen comment) Re: Always-a-Girl! [Character] Is transphobic.
Now that I think about it, maybe just tagging girl![character] or fem![character] would work better. It's usually obvious from context whether you mean "magically transformed into opposite sex" or "identifies as different gender than in canon."
I just find the idea of always being obligated to label a character as cis or trans very limiting.
