It's kind of sad that we cater to other people's issues, yeah. {random hugs}
I feel like Deborah must hear from photogs and directors all the time to not wear heels unless her [male] costars are like 6'. She looks smaller on film, which is weird, because every time I see her alongside her costars, she seems like she's not so tiny after all (which is awesome):

Speaking of tiny muffins, I wonder if Charlie and Elden have to deal with the other side of the coin, not being very tall guys? Hollywood expectations and all that. I should be glad for Robert Downey, Jr for existing. But I did come across this pic this weekend and it startled me. This whole time I thought the camera angles in Daredevil were making Wilson Fisk look huge. No, he's actually that big, and then some. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF HIS HANDS. That is some ace casting right there:
I agree with you nonnie, we'll have to wait and see. Just keep in mind that DD was only ever intended to have one season and be part of the package Defenders deal with the other series. The worldwide success of the show is what gave it a S2, and if they wanted to build up Foggy's background they would have given it to us in S1 (maybe if we get a S3? yaaaas!). As much as I'd love to believe they're going to devote some time to Foggy's background next season, I feel like they bit off more than they should have with Karen so they have backed themselves into a corner and have to deal with her baggage now, not to mention Fisk and Lady Kingpin, AND they're bringing in Elektra, Bullseye, and the Punisher on top of all that. Plus they still have to build story/plot towards Danny/Iron Fist, Kun L'un, and the Chaste and Hand connections.
Our characters can't really afford to be the comics characters, there's no time, and they've already admitted to being Punisher-heavy in S2 so if they don't cock it all up with trying to do too much all at once like spec scripts suggest *cough*GOTHAM*cough* then we're going to be very lucky if we get any more Matt OR Foggy backstory. I love Foggy and I hope I'm wrong, but the only way I see they have enough time is if they order a back 9. *shrugs* We'll find out soon, that's for sure.
Hell's Kitchen is actually part of Manhattan. Manhattan is the Borough (AKA New York County). Hell's Kitchen (technically, Clinton) is a neighborhood in the borough. Also, Hell's Kitchen is less than a square mile in area.
...This show really inflated what a 'city' is then. Holy shit that's small. My suburb here is bigger and I wouldn't call it a city! There's also a load of crime for a place so small...
Thanks for both informing me and blowing my mind further.
I had kind of hoped fandom was past hating on female characters by now, and at first glance it seems like our little fandom is doing pretty good (look at all the love for Claire and Marci and Vanessa), and yeah Karen gets some love too but she's also the target of a lot of some really intense scrutiny. Like, ~everything she does is bad and wrong and she's the literal worst~ type scrutiny. And I just... don't... get it?
Re: Great interview with Charles Soule about taking over the Daredevil comic!
OMG SAAAAAME. I'm so wtf about that decision but I guess I should wait to see how it plays out. The last time Matt was a prosecutor was in that awful DD film.
you what, I never read any of those hate-comments or posts... but this is the second time I read a post about hate-comments/posts towards Karen... (sorry for the repetitions... :>)
Do you think it's okay to just assume people know what happens in canon? Like talking about foggy being mad with Matt without explicitly saying that he recently found out matt is daredevil? Or mentioning that Fisk is in prison without saying who fisk is/going into any detail?
They tend to get frozen and screened, so if you weren't around during the discussion you probably won't have seen it. But yes, people have very strong feelings about Karen.
If you're talking about show canon, I think so. I don't know about others, but I usually don't read fanfiction until I've caught up with whatever happens. If I don't get caught up, it means I don't really care about the show itself that much but still want to read the fanfiction.
Yeah it does seem like they purposely obscure it on the show. It doesn't help that Matt says "Stay the hell out of my city" to criminals and Stick. I've been to New York a few times and assumed that they just made up some mini-city or something for the show before I found out that it was an actual neighborhood, haha.
Relying mostly on what I like reading: I find that third person POV with switching focus still flows well, as long as the POV changes are clearly delineated. I personally find first person POV changes to be a little disorienting and jarring even if the changes occur across chapters, because I always forget whose POV it is.
Um...what do people call cinemas in the US?? Is it theater or does it have to be movie theater, or...? and also if cinemas are theatres then what do you call theatres?? Or do you just use the same word?
Cinemas are movie theaters and play theaters are theaters or we just say we're going for a movie/play instead of saying we're going to the movie theater or we're going to the theater.
