ayrt - no problem at all. I disappear off the km for days at a time, no worries. I'll just leave my thoughts here and you can come back any time to reply, no rush!
Idk, sounds more like flatmeme isn't suited to your purposes and you'd have a better time if you changed it. Everything on the fills page is required to have the original subject line, maybe you should follow that instead
Which would let you miss out on any interesting discussions that may be going on just because you weren't stalking that one thread from six pages back.
ayrt - Yes, like you I want to believe Matt would have remained committed to his no-kill rule even if Stick had stayed. The way Stick remarks about Matt still refusing to cross the line (to kill), half-measures, etc, it makes it sound like they had that conversation before and Stick hadn't managed to get Matt on board when he was a child. Either that or Stick's talking about the things Matt's done in the recent past since he put on the mask? idek
But as much as Matt does have some thick daddy/father/Father issues, he does repeatedly rebel against his father, all of them. His father didn't want Matt to fight and Matt kinda threw that right out the window; Matt's Father says killing is bad but Matt was willing to damn himself if it saved others when he tried to kill Fisk; and he rebels against Stick enough that they throw down. Matt is very good at being obedient until he's not. But he tries to be good, and it obviously tears him up to be what he considers 'bad', so maybe that's why it seems he leans toward penance so heavily, to make up for all his repeat offences. It's such a Catholic thing, that cycle of sin, confession, repentance, and penance.
AYRT - Like above anon said, I like the discussion for the prompts. And not all minifills (especially the very, very tiny ones) make it to the fill page. I'm also not demanding people do it, just encouraging.
Flatmeme has 37 pages, threaded has 7. Why would I want to risk being triggered or missing out on my own post (not to mention having to load 37 pages on my phone) when I could just keep an eye out for surges in comments? I legitimately don't understand the benefits here.
The latest part might have seven. When it gets to twenty pages, and the surge of comments are spread between multiple threads, then it's understandable. It's also not unreasonable to want to be able, imo, to want to join in on flatmeme. Just cos you're happy with threaded doesn't mean everyone is.
Re: Foggy doesn't rape Matt, we're discussing Flat VS threaded
DA - judging by your comment, I'm not sure you understand how flatmeme works. The whole point of flatmeme is to *not* have to load several pages, but only one the last one since your last visit (or maybe the last two or three when you were away longer) to see all the new comments *and* not missing out on a single one. It's definitely faster and easier than checking seven individual pages for surges in comments. Lastly, I *think* you stand about an equal chance of accidentally reading something you didn't want to read on flatmeme, since most people who bother with content will mostly put them on the beginnings of individual fill posts where whatever it is they're warning about will occur.
Re: Foggy doesn't rape Matt, we're discussing Flat VS threaded
eh, well, as someone who flatmemes, I feel like the part about warnings deserves a bit of a caveat. We've got a few people who like to round robin things, particularly extremely kinky things (lately of the Matt/Frank variety). Which, to be clear, isn't a problem at all, but those little bits can and do show up scattered around flatmeme with no warnings because they're usually only, like, three sentences long. So you take your chances if that kind of stuff, just for example, is not your cup of tea.
Guess Time: Could The Defenders's plot be about Shadowland?
I was looking for something to read yeterday and i found the Shadowland series from Daredevil, those are 10 issues where Matt by something that happened is named leader of The Hand and once there he has to go through some ritual and while he's at it someone sets him up and things happens and people believe it's him.
Then something take his body and he goes berserk wanting to rule Hell's kitchen by killing every bad guy and anyone who interferes with him.
My point is that this can be an interesting plot for The Defenders, Shadowland involved many of the local heroes, we saw Iron Fist and Luke Cage, Spiderman and Ghost Rider and of course Elektra and many others.
Foggy was there aong with others than can easily be replaced by Jessica Jones, Trish and others regulars from other shows.
I found it interesting enough. The only question is if they will use the supernatural aspect of it (Matt is supposed to be possessed by some demon) in the show or just keep it like your local people v the goverment fight.
Re: Guess Time: Could The Defenders's plot be about Shadowland?
I have read the Shadowland arc and I'd be really surprised if they did anything with that for the MCU. Like, that whole thing was really a bit over-the-top, no? You'd have to tone it down a *lot* for the more gritty-realism tone we saw with Jessica and Daredevil. One super-powered villain like Kilgrave running around kinda works, but *hordes of ninjas* in the middle of New York? I guess they'd throw out Matt's Japanese murder castle he builds himself, (both for realism as well as budget reasons) and replace it with a normal building he commandeers, but...the other thing is, both Foggy and Karen get a lot of screen time in the series, but are (except for the end) nearly absent in Shadowland. They'd have to revamp the story line a *lot*. I think if we go comics, there are arcs that are *much* easier to work for the MCU, maybe something like the Ryker's plot line when Matt's identity gets discovered? Or the plot line about Milla and Lucca, that woman with the perfume that drives every man crazy, and Mr. Fear.
Re: Guess Time: Could The Defenders's plot be about Shadowland?
That would be AMAZING, but hopefully for a season of Daredevil rather than the Defenders. I'd like Defenders to be a team show rather than a show that makes Matt a standalone main character.
Re: Guess Time: Could The Defenders's plot be about Shadowland?
OP. I was thinking the same but maybe they will move things around so Matt is not the one that gets possessed but a bad guy, maybe they can play with Matt at first but he doesnt get all the spotlight through out the season or something like that.
Re: Guess Time: Could The Defenders's plot be about Shadowland?
OP. Me too. I just thought this would make for good arc at the show, giving that involves a lot of the characters we are gonna meet in the next series and DD season 3 could eb about the redemption arc.
Everyone is waiting for Iron Fist to see if they will include the mithology behind it and all the things magical.
If Marvel is doing Dr. Strange i dont think there will be a problem with Iron Fist
I'd never thought about Matt's many-paternal-figures issues like that before! Very interesting. Because that is the cycle he goes through: he wants to be 'good', which means listening to his various father figures, but his own... idk, principles? emotions? righteousness? always comes through in the end, even if it means being disobedient to them. And then there's so much guilt, because no matter how much Matt believes in what he does, he still feels so bad about doing it. :( Luckily for us though, Matt's daddy issues translate very nicely into smutty fanwork <3 lmao
Aaaand guess who finally got around to watching E05! This is going to be a massive comment, hahah, sorry D:
I forgot how much I love the description of Matt's senses in this show - e.g. compared to the comics, where there's an honest-to-god magic radar sense. It makes him just a little more human rather than superhuman, matching the style of the show.
The whole exchange about sharks in the N&M office was hilarious. It was so cute and so cheerful! And Matt's little moment of small talk with Brett, aww. I want them all to be happy forever.
This was great too: "You chopped Anatoly's head off!" / "... And now I want his brother." Just, all the things that could be running through Matt's head in that tiny pause.
I liked how they had the scene where Matt needed Claire to read the text on the burner. And oh my god - I just don't think I can let myself fall in love with someone who's so close to becoming what he hates. / You're right. You shouldn't. my heart ;_; (It made a good parallel to Vanessa and Fisk, though. Claire and Matt just ended because Claire learnt more about Matt; Vanessa learns more about Fisk and now they're getting together.)
Speaking of those two, I actually love them together. We already know about Fisk, but when they're standing by the window with the explosions happening, that's the first moment where you see Vanessa's true colours - like wow, this is why they fell in love and fit together so perfectly. It's also interesting, I think, how Fisk justifies it. Because yeah, the people who kidnapped that boy were killed in the explosions... but that same boy and his father could've been killed too. As we saw with Foggy and Karen, Fisk isn't exactly concerned about collateral damage. He's okay with destroying the whole city for his metaphorical 'rebirth' plan, not just the bad stuff in it.
I realised another thing! When Gao's delivery guy sets off the bomb, Matt reacts right before it goes off - was he keeping track of everything going on in there, the whole time he was grappling outside with that guy guarding the door? Because, wow. That's seriously impressive.
And then the episode ends with a big fat cliffhanger. Aaaaahhhhhhh.
There's a fic I'm looking for that was on A03 where Foggy makes some sort of deal with a deamon/supernatural being to switch his and Matt's places so he ends up blinded instead. But then things go worse cause he's never trained by Stick and never uses his senses but him and Matt are still best friends.
Trying to find an alliance can be like playing asshole roulette
Would an alliance of memers go better? Is it less intimidating to work with players after you've chatted to them about the things you'd each do to Matt's bubble butt?
Would it crash and burn because its not anonymous enough? (I'm still trying to figure out the logistics)
AnonymousDaredevils is an available name if you would rather not have the word 'kinkmeme' in the title.
What's your take on it? Whether you'd be down for it or you think it's a stupid/logistically unsound idea, drop a comment
I found this little gem in a couple of the Marvel handbooks, but for the life of me, I can't find the comic issues where Matt is a cook. Can anyone point me towards them? I only know of two instances - at the end of Born Again, and at some point in Secret Wars.
