Ah...no. I just make (sometimes almost complete fics, sometimes just scenes) up in my head in great detail but only end up writing down a small number of that...

Yeeeeah... Brent Spiner really pisses me off because he's been so incredibly condescending to Star Trek fans when I've seen him at cons. To the point of making fun of them and giving glib answers to their questions.

Again, I just note it and will never give my money to someone at a con or my time to someone who's real-life personality is like that.

Re: Recast Foggy?

Exactly. E.g. Christopher Eccleston has said that he wasn't a big Doctor Who fan growing up but his doctor is my favourite so it really doesn't matter.
Of course as stated above it's nice and fun for other fans if the actors are also fans but if you're going to demand a 'true fan'-test of every actor you'll end up with either no shows at all or shows with mostly really crappy actors...

So...yeah. I really don't see the problem. It's not like he went 'I think this show is shit, I don't care about it and only want the money' which yeah...would dampen my enthusiasm for the character a lot because that would be such a shitty thing to do that I would have a hard time ignoring it but, well he hasn't. He's just not over the moon about the franchise.

Matt's body armour

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
How does it work exactly? I mean is it basically a bullet-proof vest only a lot thinner because Marvel-Sci-Fi-Magic? So bullets wouldn't go through but the impact would still leave a bruise? Would it be the same with knife-attacks (if the knife hit him with enough force) or would that be absorbed completely? How about normal punches?

tl;dr: what kind of injuries will Matt still have once he's wearing the armour? What will he have less of? (What do the comics say on that subject?)

I get the same vibe from some of the actors who attend Supernatural conventions (but I think maybe for some of them it's just easy money? idk)

kinkmeme karma

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I wonder whom I royally pissed off for my kinkmeme karma to be so off. I've written fourteen fills in the last three months with a total word count of over 60,000. I've posted fifteen prompts, and only one of them ever got filled.

I mean, yeah, of course I get that this is just the way a kinkmeme works. And I get one out of fifteen isn't even such a bad ratio when you consider the total number of prompts posted and the percentage of those actually getting filled. And factor in the fact that there might not be a lot of overlap between the things I'd like to read in fanfic and the things that the active writers here want to explore.

Most of the time writing for prompts is a total win/win, and it's lovely and enjoyable and exciting, but it's happened quite a lot lately that I've written fills and the OP never even thanked me. Even those prompts where I posted a fill within a week or two of the prompt going up. And that's always a bit weird, because... did they not see the fill? Did they read it and not like it? Does my writing or storytelling suck?

I'm not gonna stop writing for the kinkmeme, because it's just way too much fun, but I guess I'm just saying it could be *more* fun if someone actually wrote me something back.

Ahem. [/end rant] Carry on.

As far as the OP issue, it's always possible that one of the comments you got was from the OP, and they just forgot to identify themselves as such.

As for getting your prompts filled, maybe promote some of them on the prompt freeze post? It's not a surefire thing, but it might help your prompt(s) get noticed.

From what Marvin said IIRC-

Black parts of the costume could maybe deflect bullets, red parts from knives and lesser weapons. Or the black parts deflect bullets and knives and the red parts just protect from punches. It's in the last episode, I think, just before Matt goes to fight Fisk for the final time.

Since most of the costume is red, he could get shot in one of the red parts including the face. He would still be vulnerable to a lot of bruising, I imagine. Less vulnerable to head injuries. And you could probably still stab through the costume if you came at it from the right angle- probably by stabbing upward into the armor instead of downward where it could glance off.

I'm not a medical expert by any means, so I hope that someone else chimes in!

Are you me? LOL ^_^;

I wonder the exact same thing. I wrote a fill, and now I'm writing a longer sequel to that fill, and I haven't received any word from the OP (or at least, they haven't claimed the prompt as theirs) and I'm like just... "What do?"

Honestly, the kinkmeme is dying. And I wish people would just take the time to comment because those of us that DO continue to write are a rare commodity, y'know?

Jessica Jones!

So I just finished Alias and am working my way through The Pulse (but it's slow going because so far I'm not a huge fan of Jessica Jones Weeps and Cradles Her Belly: The Series), and can I just say I'm so stoked for the Netflix show? Somebody come talk to me about it, please!

Gimmie your prompts, nonnie. Can't promise the world (I'm a very vanilla Matt/Foggy girl, so some things might not ping for me), but I'm up for a challenge. :)

Omg I'm making my way through alias and I'm loving it sooooo much?! (I'm over halfway through and I started a couple days ago haha). She's so awesome, I can't wait for the series!

Alias is the best. I am honestly on the edge of my seat waiting for Netflix to announce the date it drops.

And David Tennant as Purple Man? HELL YEAH!!!!!

I feel you, I do!

I'm the mod for the Minor Character Fic Fest, and so far there's 8 entries. Which isn't awful, I guess? But yeah... I'm not sure why this meme seems to be slowing down so much.

I know a lot of people still really love it here (and I certainly do!) but I'm just a bit disappointed, because I feel like there are less fills being written and less discussions happening, etc. It's a bummer. Are we not all fun, wonderful people? Don't go, please! What can we do? Where did everyone go?

This is my first prompt meme, so I'm not sure if that's normal or not...

And yeah... I've had the same thing happen, where the OP doesn't respond to a fill. What is up with that? I've always gone out of my way to respond and identify myself as the OP (and even though I had a couple filled when I first got here, I too have prompted a lot lately without really getting a fill back - I had one - an awesome one - but still...)

Re: kinkmeme karma

This is my first prompt meme, so I'm not sure if that's normal or not...

Sadly, it is perfectly normal. It's very hard to keep a kink/prompt meme active, especially when it's a few months past the last new installment of your canon. If all goes well, we should get another burst of activity when season 2 rolls around, maybe even temporarily going back to how things were when the meme was at its most active. Periods of inactivity are normal for any kink meme and most them just die out eventually, but ime MCU kink memes tend to be more resilient than memes for smaller fandoms.

And even if we never get back to the height of activity that we had before, and even if the meme does just die out, I think this meme has produced a lot more fic than the average kink meme ever manages to. So that's a pretty cool accomplishment for everyone involved.

I'm trying to finish off my Matt/Foggy minds are linked fill that's been going on a while. So close to done.

Then if I have time I'll go look at the many many prompts I've saved and see if I can fill any of those.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT - I do think that Season 2 will probably bring that fresh burst of people back. And maybe even Jessica Jones too.

It's also probably an issue with the Netflix series which come in bursts, because it means that you don't have those long months where new episodes are coming each week and people are active and watching the show.

I know the fic you're talking about anon. I'm pretty sure the person who wrote it put it in the WIP and Completed posts, so your best bet would be to look there?
