Prompt Post #3

THIS POST IS CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS.
HEAD OVER TO PROMPT POST #4.

Keep filling prompts on this post! Make sure to link any new fic on the complete or work in progress fills posts so it doesn't get missed.

Please read the current rules before commenting on this post.

Leave a prompt. Fill a prompt. Everyone wins!
Previous Rounds: Prompt Post #1 | Prompt Post #2

Fills: Completed & WIPs | Mod Post | Discussion | AO3 Collection | Searchable Prompts on Delicious

Rules:
  1. YKINMKATO. Play nice.

  2. All comments must be anon.

  3. Announce your fill on either the Completed Fills Post or the WIP post.

  4. Warnings are nice, but not necessary.

  5. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing, kink, general wants).

  6. All types of prompts are welcome.

  7. Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill. Multiple fills are always okay.

  8. Don't change the subject line unless you're posting a fill.

  9. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2015 TV show in some way.

  10. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any problems. There's an alternate link for viewing all the prompts on delicious here, if the above link doesn't work for you.

ATTENTION KINKMEMERS: We have some new rules.
  • There's now a WIP post in addition to the Fills post. Fills post is now only for completed fills (and one-shots, and minifills). Unfinished fills and updates go on the WIP post. When you finish it, you can put a link to the whole thing in the Fills post.

  • Prompts can only be reposted once one round has passed - i.e., prompts from post #2 cannot be reposted until post #4. Please include a link to where it has been previously posted.

Come talk to me on the mod post if you have any questions <3

ATTENTION KINKMEMERS 2: Late heads up for anyone not on the discussion post - we're closing this post and starting the fill fest when it reaches 4000 comments, which, as of writing, is in 17 comments time. Get any prompts you desperately need in soon!

Gen: Blind Lawyer Saves the Avengers!

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt, as Matt, saves the Avengers in a profoundly simple way when their tech and sight (via removal of light sources) is compromised. It's not complicated and absurdly simple yet everyone acts like he saved the world.

The newspapers won't shut up about it but by at lest they have more clientele.

Fill: That's Not Even a Good Pun

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
'"I Didn't See What Else I Could Do." : Blind Lawyer Saves the Avengers!"'

Matt manages not to groan as Foggy delightedly reads out another of the newspaper. Beside him, Karen giggles, probably at the look on Matt's face.

'It wasn't that big a deal.' Matt repeats, for what feels like the thousandth time. 'I was just in the right place at the right time.'

Foggy ignores him. 'Justice is Bl-, okay this one is stupid.'

'They're all stupid.' Matt mutters, trying to push one of the papers off Karen's desk. 'Not a single decent pun at least.'

Karen loses it then and Matt hears the hump as her chair hits the floor, followed by the huff of air leaving her lungs as she joins it. He tilts his head at her and she laughs even more. Fine. She can stay there for a bit then.

'It's not a big deal! I just pushed a button.'

A silence then, 'I just rolled my eyes at you buddy.' Foggy stands, his usual scent much stronger as he comes closer. 'You need to take credit where it's due!'

Matt pulls up the most annoying article he's seen so far, courtesy of The Daily Bugle, and listens to it again.

Then he starts to read it out loud, as sarcastically as possible. 'In the dark of night, it recently turned out that there was only one defender that Hell's Kitchen needed. Not an Avenger or a Daredevil but an unassuming, blind young lawyer. Matt Murdock, of the local Nelson and Murdock firm, became the hero our city needed last ni -' Foggy starts to laugh. 'Shut up Foggy. -the hero our city needed last night when he, and he alone, was able to rescue us from the grips of a technological nightmare.'

'It qualifies as a technological nightmare?' Karen interrupts. 'It was two robots.'

'Two rogue robots,' Foggy corrects. 'There's a major difference, or so they tell me.' He finally helps Karen off the floor, though they are still laughing.

Matt coughs and he senses them turn their heads back to look at him. 'I'm with Karen here. It was nothing.'

'And what does that article say? The one you're reading.'

It's going on about his 'heroism' and how he'd been smart enough to push the EMP button that the Avengers, superheroes as they were, had been blind to. It's an awful pun. Again.

This was a bad idea. 'Nothing important.' Matt clicks out so Foggy can't see his screen as he comes up behind him.

But Foggy is bouncing slightly with glee. 'I'm not so sure. That's the Daily Bugle one, right?' Matt nods reluctantly. Foggy moves some of the papers on the desk. 'Then- Blinded by the destruction of the nearby street light, the Avengers were stumbling around, incapable of seeing what was right before their faces and all fighting blind. But-'

Matt lunges for the paper but Foggy darts out of the way, deliberately grabbing a bundle. Matt groans in frustration. 'But Matt was not to be so easily misled! Listening carefully, our brave hero was able to do what the so called 'superheroes' could not and locate the EMP device that had been brought specifically to destroy these nightmares.'

'If you don't stop, I will make you suffer.' Matt growls and Foggy has the audacity to laugh. Again.

'Excuse me?' A woman's voice asks from the doorway and even Matt finds himself jumping, having been too distracted by the newspapers to hear her approaching. 'Is this Mr Murdock's office?'

Matt stands, tugging at his suit. 'Yes, that's me. How can we help?'

Her heart relaxes and Matt can hear Foggy's pick up, along with the faint scent of sweat. So attractive, well dressed or both. 'I need a lawyer and I hear you're a good one to go to.'

Huh. Maybe all those stupid papers might not be so awful after all. 'This way please.' Matt gestures and, once she's through the door, turns his head in Foggy's direction. 'Well?'

'Oh yes.' Foggy's grin is clear in his voice and Matt feels a tiny bit better about all the articles.

Not about the puns though. Nothing can make those good.

LOL, poor Matt.

OP here. I love it. I love the absurdity of him saving the day by pressing a button and the bad puns that resulted!

Thanks! I'm glad you did! =D I wanted the most absurd way for him to do it and the bad, bad puns I could make were just a bonus.

So many bad puns.

Yay! And you included my suggestion that Foggy is Matt's hot girl detector!

I did include that, sorry if that's not okay. It was just such a good idea! =)

Ahaha, they're all such adorable dorks. :D I love Matt being annoyed almost as much by the absence of a good headline pun as by the overblown treatment of him pushing a button.

They really are. Oh yes. Matt could almost excuse the overblown treatment if they could just find one good pun. Just one! He's not asking much!

I'm glad you liked it.

I know there was already a fill, but this prompt was way to brilliant, I couldn't resist.

The first chapter is up here (chapters 2 & 3 to follow shortly): http://archiveofourown.org/works/4244211
