This post is for prompts involving everyone in Netflix's The Defenders! Crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go here. Prompts only including characters from one show should still go on the relevant show prompt post.

General

2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2017 TV show in some way.
5. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

I did not get that scene in Iron Fist with Davos and Joy at all. It seemed completely out of character for both of them.

Davos was upset that Danny left and abandoned both him and Kun Lun but he also still seemed protective of him and didn't want Colleen to use him or for Danny to put himself in danger.

Joy was protesting that Danny was a good person and would always do the right thing when she got shot. She stopped trusting her father when he betrayed Danny and like Ward said earlier 'Danny was always her weak spot'. Also she can get her life back now. There's nothing stopping her, she can just go back to Rand and everything will be like it was except she knows about it all now.

So I did not understand that scene at all. I choose to believe there was more to it and we'll discover in season 2 that they weren't really betraying him.

I don't even remember that scene. What exactly were they plotting?

It was a pretty vague, Danny ruined our lives so let's get him! moment. It was really just an Easter egg, because Davos especially is one of Danny's comics villains and I think he teamed up with Joy once. Up to that moment I'd been hoping they wouldn't go there because yes, ex-boyfriends.

Yeah like a 30 second clip with Gao listening in the back. I can get on board with Davos being a villain considering he has no issue with murder and considers this dimension to be disgusting. I can also understand him being angry at Danny considering Danny left the way to Kun Lun open and it got attacked and Davos coming after him means Davos can't go home for years. What I don't think I'll be able to understand is Davos actually trying to kill Danny. My prediction is that he'll plot Danny's demise (because he's hurt and angry and feeling betrayed) but then they'll fight and Danny will hold back so Davos will win but he won't be able to deal the killing blow. And then they make up. Or make out. Both work.

Joy came out of no where tho. Danny didn't ruin her life and he risked his life repeatedly to save her. Joy also feels guilty about hurting people she doesn't even know. I can't see her wanting to kill someone she see's as family.

But back to the original Prompt. I would love to see possessive boyfriend Davis, not liking these new people in Danny's life. Because while Danny takes them mocking him, Kun Lun and the Iron Fist in stride, I can't see Davos being as laid back about it. Or being okay with anyone other than himself watching Danny's back.

I think they were trying to do something with the idea that Ward started out as the possibly evil Meachum kid to watch out for, Joy was the nice one, and there's slowly been this role reversal. But I agree, not too well executed on Joy's end.

Yes to the prompt, Davos has so much fun or angst potential as a foil/boyfriend because he has so many, many opinions. Danny, want to go out for pizza? No, Davos says the food in this plane is an indulgence that weakens the body. Danny, here's the plan, you sneak through the back door and punch some ninjas. No, Davos thinks I should always punch through the front door. Danny, what happened to that fancy Italian coat you were wearing yesterday? what are you doing, it's below freezing out?!? No, Davos says comfortable clothing is an unecessary distraction. Danny, I'm having a beer, want one? No, Davos says I shouldn't poison my chi with intoxicating substances.

...Danny, pls.

Davos just wants Danny to live his best life ok and every time the team tries to talk to him about chilling out a bit he challenges them all to combat. Jess is mouthing off, Matt is like if you wanna go then let's go, Luke feels like an exhausted kindergarten teacher, and Danny would like to remind them all that he is the Immortal Iron Fist, he plunged his fist into the heart of Shou Lao the Undying and he can defend himself thank you very much.

This kind of just makes Davos sound really, really abusive, though? Like, there's plenty of angst potential and even dark humor potential, but imo the only happy ending to this would be one where Danny cuts off ties with Davos. Like, honestly, i would be super interested in a fic where Danny gets out of an abusive relationship with help from the others.

But the idea that the way Davos treats him here in the above comment is in any way okay is, to put it bluntly, uncomfortable, because it's pretty much just a repeat of K'un-Lun's brainwashing/abuse, and it would be kind of hard for Danny to recover from that and become his own person when someone's basically following him around trying to keep him completely dependent. (Btw trying to be polite here, not start a fight. I just kind of...wanted to mention...I mean, Davos treats Danny like an object, and it's...scary, I guess?)

I mean, yes, of course it's abusive? But Davos is kind of that way in IF imo. He has stuff to work out like pretty much all of Danny's pairing options. I don't think it would have to be unsolvable if the fic was long enough. I guess I read the word possessive in the subject line and assumed it was intended to play with Davos' intensity and the fact that recreating a relationship out of K'un Lun might have its downsides at first. The fact that Danny can be basically unformed clay is part of what I find fascinating about him, but I wasn't trying to misunderstand the original idea or be controversial about it.

sa, in case a clarification would help - I also think that Davos isn't cool with being separated from K'un Lun - I mean I stole the pizza thing straight out of an exchange he had with Claire - and I think he could easily find himself trying to recreate it with Danny without consciously thinking haha, let me control and isolate my boyfriend. Which is still not great ofc, but it's complicated.

I gotta say, I am very wary of the whole 'Davos abuses Danny but it's okay because it's complicated and they can totally reconcile' it angle. That sounds very hard to write without being a futile exercise in unfortunate implications.

OP<-- Oh yeah I totally wasn't looking at it as an abusive relationship, just a protective one. Like Danny talks about K'un-Lun and acts weird and people kind of side eye him or laugh him off and it just pisses Davos off because Danny may be an idiot, but he's his idiot, but as the Iron Fist he should get some respect since, it's a VERY important title that no one but the two of them understand.

Mostly I just want a makeup story where Danny's two lives sort of collide in introducing his bff to his new friends.

Sorry, op! My thought was that Davos would be protecting Danny from all the things that worry him about this new world, not just the people, and it might need some working on - wasn't trying to segue into darkfic.

This is a lot of judging for a kink meme, lol. Yes, it would be very hard to write. Davos spends his entire canon appearance telling Danny what to do and punching him when he doesn't comply, so I had no idea people thought Davos would make a great boyfriend right off the bat. Sorry.

I wasn't thinking Davos would make a great boyfriend off the bat? I was just saying that the way it was put in the comment I responded to felt like it wasn't going to a place of 'but Davos and Danny figure out how to have a healthy relationship and things turn out well'. It just seemed like it began and ended at 'Davos continues to be abusive, full stop, but it's fine'. I didn't read between the lines, and also a relationship that literally starts with abuse isn't just Davos not being a great boyfriend off the bat, but the OP did put in their two cents to say that this isn't where the prompt was going at all and that with what they wrote possessive=protective. I don't want to derail their prompt anymore.

We should probably stop talking before this turns into some kind of fight that the mod has to get involved with. You're right, the kink meme isn't a place to judge and I should exercise some impulse control. So. I'm bowing out.
