Defenders-only Discussion Post

This post is for prompts involving everyone in Netflix's The Defenders! Crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go here. Prompts only including characters from one show should still go on the relevant show prompt post.

Rules:

General
1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.
2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2017 TV show in some way.
5. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

Prompts
1. All types of prompts are welcome.
2. Use the subject line for the main idea of your prompt (pairing or characters, keywords, kink).
3. Warnings are nice, but not mandatory. Get DW Blocker if there's anything you really don't want to see.

Fills
1. Put [FILL] or something similar in the subject line when posting a fill.

So it really, really annoyed me that Matt and Claire barely said two words to each other during the show. Like...she mentions all her other super powered friends to each other (gets Luke and Danny to meet) but she doesn't mention her Matt at all? Was this her way of trying to keep him out of the fight with the Hand? (Did she know he had quit after the mess with them last season and did she want to avoid dragging him back?).

They barely acknowledged each other while in the same scenes. Luke and Jessica had some lovely scenes acknowledging their past relationship and moving forward into a new one but Claire and Matt got nothing. I'm not asking for something that discounts Luke/Claire. I'm just asking for something to fill in the blanks because they literally seemed like they had never even met and it irked me.

This disappointed me so much. We neeed to see them acknowledge each other as friends. Claire has known Matt the longest. I feel the writers really dropped the ball on this.

Yes, this. The only saving grace for me was when they'd made it out of the building and Claire was crying and praying by the ambulance and I realized she was so upset because they left Matt behind, he wasn't coming out. She was torn up and I'm glad, but otherwise there was nothing between her and Matt, not even one conversation.

This. Claire being visibly upset at Matt's possible death and her conversation in the end with Foggy are the only things that help eleviate the disapointment of their non-interaction. Be they're friends or lovers, I love the two of them together.

Saw this thread when it was first posted, but have just been sitting on my idea for a fill till now. Finally sat down to just let the words flow. Full fic is on AO3, about 2k words. Here’s the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/12182298

I am pleased with my ending line, so in case you need convincing to read till the end:

More details:

This fill addresses all the points raised in this thread, including the idea that Claire tries to keep Matt from being dragged back into the fight against the Hand, and the image of Claire praying after she leaves the building without him.

Essentially it’s the missing scene, filling in the blanks in-canon, where Claire checks over Matt. I classify it as past Claire Temple/Matt Murdock, with their current dynamic being neither romantic or platonic but just deep and intimate. Claire is not being unfaithful to Luke, she loves him as in canon. Matt is simply the one she never allowed herself to love as much she wanted to. (An idea that I also address in my other fic for The Defenders! Whee.)
