I don't get why people are bothered about the Sokovia Accords as it relates to Defenders. As Civil War lays out, not signing the Sokovia Accords doesn't mean Cap can't keep doing what he does. It just makes continuing to do what he does illegal.
They are what you sign to be above board and still operating openly and within the law. Signing indicates agreement to regulation and oversight.
Important detail that it scares me more people in fandom forget: Matt is and always has been acting illegally as Daredevil. What he does as Daredevil is assault and battery. Also definitely attempted murder. Probably sometimes manslaughter. Many other more minor charges like kidnapping, breaking and entering, etc. are likely applicable.
Hence the mask.
The Accords have never and would never have applied to him anyway in a way that changed anything he does.
The Sokovia Accords in the MCU are NOT related at all to the ones in the comics Civil War which mandated that all heroes be rounded up or de-masked and promised firm enforcement of every street corner to achieve that. They are more like an international treaty designed to specifically reign in the Avengers as multinational actors conducting intelligence and military-style operations across borders.
The Defenders are nowhere near that level. Peter Parker really shouldn't have been anywhere near it either and obviously concerned nobody once he'd left the Avengers which is why he's still roaming Queens in a mask in his own movie too. Because no way did he sign them even if somehow he could as Spider-Man and not Peter Parker.
The Accords are a UN thing that apply to acts of treason and diplomatic fuck-ups and such, not low level masks or people with abilities who only want to help their block.
Re: dark!alternate ending, the Defenders get sent to the Raft
