Oh, that does sound better. I'll give that show a chance when I have the time.
...so the happy ending in BW is that abused KGB agents are now killers on CIA payroll? That's, uh... probably realistic, yeah, but unless it's framed as a PROBLEM HERE, AUDIENCE it's seriously fucked up. That's what I hate the Punisher for - it spent the entire series portraying corruption in the army/policing system, to the point where the main cop character quits FBI in rage. That was really something for a show made in USA, I respected that. And then they give us an epilogue in which we learn that the woman who quit FBI over crime, human rights violations and corruption JOINED THE CIA. You know, as a step toward justice. Nothing to see here, just a logical happy ending folks...
(sorry for introducing a different show entirely, it seemed relevant).
I would probably be a little annoyed at creating and exploring fake psych problems while ignoring real ones. But I get why people find that interesting; speculating about human mind always is. And if done well, it can make some really, really good fiction. That's hard to achieve though.
That said, I'm a bit curious about Yelena as a character. I'd give her a chance :)
I remember the wave of video esseys on YT that started with "Why is [name]" and proceeded to dismantle what was usually some conservative media figure. That was pretty great, I wish saying that stayed around longer.
