I like the possible boxing parallels that could come of this. Matt could see each challenge as a match, the dueling ground as a boxing ring. Just imagine all the Jack feels.
(On the one hand, Jack never wanted him to have to fight. On the other, Matt's fighting for the closest thing he has to family. I think Jack would have understood and even been proud of that.)
