OK so I get that i'm probably the only person on the kink meme that actually liked Stick, but when I was watching the show I honestly quite liked him as a character. (not that evil stick isn't fun to write)
I got the impression that maybe he was a bit rougher training Matt than would be considered appropriate in today's world, and he wasn't particularly soft and fuzzy emotionally. But all of that has changed a lot even in the last fifty years, and thats just in the western world and stick is an old guy and we have no idea where he grew up (cultural relativism people). Besides, Matt has clearly had more than enough of people treating him like glass, I know I always preferred the teachers that told me off and said I wasn't trying hard enough, to the ones that were all sweet and sympathetic and went on about how "at least you tried your best", at least the former genuinely believed I could do well, rather than just trying to soften the blow of failure. And ok Stick running away was clearly a majorly dick move, but there could have been a good reason (like idk sticks enemies caught up with him and Matt being close was putting him in danger)
Ok now don't get me wrong the evilStick fics are loads of fun and I love them, but we get a lot of those and not a lot of the other, so I kinda want to see a fic where he genuinely had a good reason for leaving, and a good reason for training Matt, and did actually genuinely care about Matt (he did keep the bracelet after all, and I personally think keeping it all those years just to fuck with Matt's head is a bit of a stretch.), and while he may have been tough in training, and not very demonstrative of affection, he did still show Matt he cared in little ways. Maybe something from his POV.
