from what i recall, it takes a few weeks just for the prosecutor to decide if they want to prosecute you for your crimes

about a month or two from an arrest you'll get an arraignment which is when you plead guilty or not guilty to the charges you are indicted for.

from what i've read, misdemeanor processes take around three months, while felonies are around six months to a year. remember, the boston bomber committed his terrorist acts in april of 2013 and only got sentenced a couple months ago. if you're talking a class D felony i'm assuming you mean robbery, so maybe go for a year or so for the entire process?
