i don't feel like that's something one straight man would say to another straight man in any situation
Good point. If Foggy thought Matt was totally straight, how could he even use that phrasing? Because those words are romantic couple words, like the kind you throw at your lover when they've deceived you, and the pain they're suffering isn't just good 'buddy' pain, either. That's a whole deeper level of betrayal and hurt than just an argument between friends.
AHHH THE NOT GONNA KISS ME SCENE! I had the same thought! It totally came off like Foggy has kissed Matt before and Matt was expecting it to happen again. TBH I expected Foggy to kiss Matt at Josie's, when he was talking about the partnership. When Foggy said, 'I'm with you'... I almost expected him to say 'to the end of the line.' Sure, go ahead and compete for most subtext with Steve/Bucky, okay. But, no, they went with FOR BETTER OR WORSE. It's only subtext if it's subtle. And that? Was not. Matt brings it all the way around with a nod at marriage, omg.
For sure Matt comes off as more reserved with relationships, but at the end of the season he tells Karen he thought he'd been doing a good job of pushing people away, he thought he'd listened to Stick, so that must be part of it. He's obvs let Foggy into his heart because their fight was causing Matt some harsh pain, too. If he didn't love Foggy, he wouldn't have been so crushed over Foggy doubting him or questioning him or walking out on him. I have just as many questions about Fisk/Wesley, too.
