The main leads were at a con and made some comments about how bad SPN was (this was a con and those comments were recorded) and there was a lot of assholery happening. Maybe they were drunk, who knows, but it was uncalled for in a room of their biggest fans.

Whether Elden did a good job in the role of Foggy or not is debatable but if he was to pull this level of crap? No. Fandom would not be happy. And he'd probably get it even worse because fans are less likely to stan for character actors than fantasy material.

It is weird that Jess is one of honestly the only women Matt's hung around in the Marvel Universe who he hasn't hooked up with (except maybe She-Hulk). The list is ridiculous - Black Widow, Misty Knight, Echo, Elektra, Typhoid Mary... I can't remember if he hooks up with Colleen Wing or not too, but it wouldn't surprised me. I just read Daredevil: End of Days and it was hilarious to me that when Ben Urich looks into Matt's life, he basically finds a trail of his enraged exes (all of whom have suspiciously red-headed children with no fathers).

I don't even think Stark's track record reads quite like that (although it's also substantial and will likely include Spiderman's Mary Jane soon).

You certainly are smart, anon! Yes, irl I'd like to be your friend so you could teach me how to be less dumb and inefficient. I'm sure your irl friends appreciate how selfless you are.

I'm fascinated by how you rate Foggy as attractive but you have to negate Matt as a guy with 'the bad habit of going out at night and punching things as a form of stress relief' in order to qualify it.

I'm reading this in fics more and more and not just by one specific author (but I think I know the one you're talking about, who is hella bad at hiding their anger at Matt for whatever reason). I'm not even sure if that author knows they're so consistent with it or you can see other things they've written and all of them are some weird level of Matt-bashing (and all the while praising Foggy as the second coming, etc). I can't tell if it's self-insert in a 'I would have made such better choices than you' or if it's just someone who thinks Foggy would have made such better choices than Matt, no clue.

Guys, am I starting to see a trend toward Matt bashing in fics on AO3? Not the good sexy kind of Matt bashing, either. Is this a thing now? Any idea where this is coming from? Well, hang on, I AM aware of a couple of specific authors who seem to have some deep issues with Matt and in most of their stories use Foggy as their mouthpiece so they can paint Matt as The Worst, but I'm also seeing more of those type of stories, or at least I'm skimming a lot more on the DD filter these days than I was a month ago. Did Charlie Cox say something or do something to piss off fandom because fandom tends to hold a grudge like that. Has CC finally done something problematic?

i love talking about matt's self-destructive and depressive qualities but that's mostly because i relate to them? not sure why anyone would really truly hate on matt other than the typical "he knows more than the other avacados do and so when he tells them how to conduct themselves it sounds bossy" but like. I LOVE MY SMOLL BLIND SON.

Yeah I'm hoping they skip over Malcolm wholesale in the Netflix series, or rework him into a completely different character. Like, who would actually walk into some stranger's office and start answering their phones, essentially playing around with their livelihood? Why would she hire him after that??

I got the feeling he was supposed to be an audience proxy, like "hey, we all love superheroes, don't we? Here's a fanboy inside the universe, doing what we all wish we could do!" but to me, instead of quirky or funny he came off as utterly lacking in boundaries and horribly annoying, and because of that disconnect between the narrative intent and the execution, he was intensely unpleasant to behold for every second of his panel time. Also personally, I would find a strange man willing to invade my life because he's read a lot of news stories about me and decided he's entitled to my time disturbing and, yeah, pretty threatening. Then again, I don't have super strength.

my fellow prompt fillers: how do you keep your concentration while you're writing? concentrating in general is difficult for me but it's especially hard when i'm writing, as every time i get distracted it becomes harder and harder to go back and keep writing because i start worrying about whether or not i'm ever going to finish. what are your tips and tricks? educate me, help me!

I turn off my wifi, because apparently my writing style is to write one or two sentences and then "reward" myself by surfing Tumblr for an hour, lol. ^^;

Set tiny goals? Like, write non-stop for 15 minutes, or a half-hour. Or try to finish a scene before allowing yourself to do X.

DA agrees. It would be a purely scientific need on my part. For science.

I somehow must be extraordinarily lucky because I noticed neither that not the high number of 'author thinks Matt isn't really blind'-fics another anon complained about somewhere.
Don't get me wrong: I have come across both types of fic but not so many that I saw it as anything but 'some fics out there are bad'.
Mind you I have blacklisted enough AO3-tags that roughly every third DD gets blocked and from the remaining half feature characters from other MCU stuff which I don't care about either because I haven't watched anything except Daredevil so I'm probably not the best person to spot trends...

If websites distract you there are browser add ons that let you block them for however long you want it. Chrome has StayFocussed and I guess there are others but that's the one I use.
I also find instrumental music helpful. Doesn't matter if something classical, a soundtrack or whatever as long as nobody is singing.

Otherwise: what anon above said. Perhaps slowly 'up' your goals? As in 'another paragraph' before I do X. 'Two more'...

The only thing that makes me rme is when Foggy is written incredibly ooc in order to make Matt look like shit comparatively but I don't know if that counts as bashing. Maybe?

tbh I have seen a lot of fics where Matt is written like he can see, but that may just be the author's inability to convey blindness. I'm leery of Matt-POV fics for this reason.

Yeah...I was talking more about the fics that actually claim that his senses make up for his lack of eyesight which are thankfully few (or of which I have thankfully found only a few).

But what you said is much more frequent, e.g. stuff like Matt POV-fics in which things are described that he couldn't pick up with his senses (like eye-rolling) are much more frequent.
Though there's also a YMMV-thing going on. Like I've read fics which have lines like 'he could hear the clothes rustling and Foggy's hair brushing against his clothes and knew Foggy had shrugged' and it's of course not wrong to describe it like that (and I honestly admire that attention to detail) but I'm perfectly content with 'And Foggy shrugged'.

And now I wandered away completely from OP's question. Sorry.

I totally understand worrying about finishing - as a person who basically only had unfinished WIPs sitting on my ff.net account for almost a decade, it's a thing that can happen.

However, I've learned a few tips and tricks I can share:

1) Find a cheerleader - a good beta who will push you and be supportive with their feedback, encouraging you to keep going!

2) Find a writing software or app that minimizes distractions. I use Writer: The Internet Typewriter (https://writer.bighugelabs.com) and I absolutely adore it - the typewriter clicky noises entertain and focus me and I can fullscreen it to avoid distractions plus there's no ads and no real formatting options (which means I'm pretty much just pounding out text and worrying about the formatting later).

3) (And this one is going to be hugely controversial probably and I know doesn't work for everyone) If you've got writer's block or aren't feeling it, embrace the distraction impulse but write something else for a while. Just don't get bogged down in it. For example, if I'm writing something super-angsty and epic and it gets to me, I come here and pull up a short, fluffy prompt I know I can write a good one-off or short fic for and write that. It gives me a confidence boost, reminds me of other aspects of the show I love, and takes me out of my own head related to the story I'm writing long enough to clear what's blocking me. Then, I come back to the original story feeling better about it. Again, not for everyone, but it works for me and it's not advice you hear as often from people.

Take it with a grain of salt but I hope that advice helps!

Ah, thanks. That's probably where I got the idea of October.

It's been confirmed that Scott Glenn will be back in S2 of Daredevil. Well, we all knew Stick had plans for Matt, plans Matt knew nothing about.

Now I'm looking at Elektra's appearance in a whole new sketchy light. OMG.

Hm, I wouldn't think Elektra is working with Stick. In the comics he considered her another failed student because her anger issues and thirst for revenge consumed her.

I really hope we get Stick and Elektra interacting, tho. I'd especially love to see flashbacks to her training.

op: It kind of depends how they twist Elektra's timeline. Matt isn't following the comics exactly so it's possible Elektra is there to kill Matt, to save Matt, or maybe intending to kill Matt and eventually save/ally with him. However, assuming Elektra is based on her comics mercurial nature, her agenda isn't going to remain the same through S2.

So apparently Stick is coming back for at least 3 different episodes, no mention on how long his scenes are going to be but considering they're almost halfway done filming S2 and his inclusion was just announced today, it seems safe to say Stick will be in the second half of the season. I don't know if that bodes well for Matt, but pretty much any time Matt spends with Stick seems a bad idea.

- Punisher is in the very first episode of S2 and he continues to appear through most of the season. Charlie and Elden were seen filming the first episode and 'Foggy' appeared to be wiping a lot of blood off 'Matt's' face in public. That scene was shot repeatedly.
- Elektra is filmed early in the season and is still filming. Charlie and Elodie were seen filming in a chauffeured vehicle that looked very much like one of Fisk's mobile armada from S1. 'Matt' and 'Elektra' were laughing and Matt looked like he was putting his shirt on in that scene.
- Gladiator is intended to make a showing in S2 but nobody knows if he's going to be friend or foe to DD.
- Charlie and Deborah were recently filmed holding hands in NYC so if the show is filming even remotely close to episode order then Matt hooks up with Elektra first before X happens and then Matt and Karen become closer, dating, being kind of happy together.
- THEN STICK SHOWS UP AND EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL FOR MATT.
