Many people said so, yes. I was never one of them.
I think there wasn't even one scene that was unnecessary or boring in DD. I don't know if it's a US-viewer thing or a superhero-fan thing, but apparently many of the audience have a much shorter attention span than I do, and are only interested in action-filled flicks with no added content.
Jessica Jones could maybe cut out some of the bullshit about Killgrave (sending children to a closet, really?), but he was a main character and it would need to be replaced by something, anyway.
Luke Cage was the only show where it really seemed like the writers were forcefully trying to fill time with yet another song at the club or Luke walking the street for five minutes. But that show needed more ideas and possibly better writing, not cut-downs.
Iron Fist *was* rambly, and kinda didn't make sense as far as plot cohesion goes. But that show wouldn't exist if I got to cut out every scene that I didn't think should be there, so it's really beside the point.
So,yeah, I really don't understand the complaint. I guess my expectations are just different. I want character development, personal stories, references to real life, serious talks on religion, morality, and other shit, philosophical problems... there's a reason why I watch this, and not Jacky Chan's comedies. Maybe it was naive of me to think others would be the same.
