This post is for prompts involving everyone in Netflix's The Defenders! Crossovers between anyone in the four individual shows should go here. Prompts only including characters from one show should still go on the relevant show prompt post.

Rules:

General
1. YKINMKATO. Play nice. If you don't like something, scroll on.
2. All comments must be anon. If you would like to be politely banned to avoid anon-failing, leave a logged-in comment on the mod post or pm the mod account.
3. Subject lines should only be changed if you're posting a prompt or a fill (indicators like OP or Author!Anon should go in the body of the comment).
4. RPF is allowed. Crossovers, characters from the extended Marvel Universe and comics canon are allowed, but must relate to the 2017 TV show in some way.
5. Drop a comment on the mod post if you have any questions or problems.

In his search for Matt, Danny foolhardy becomes a soldier of the Hand. But, he's not stupid, okay? He's undercover. Don't worry about that key bullshit, nobody knows that it's him. Well, okay, except for Davos. Relax, okay? Danny just needed some help getting in, so he got in a friend first.

Oh, and Jessica got mixed up, because Jessica always sticks her nose into other people's business. Jessica is *pissed*. Not pissed enough to tell Luke, though, apparently.

Actually Jessica is oscillating between telling Luke and keeping him as far away from this stinking puddle of shit as possible, but don't tell anyone that. She has a reputation to protect.

Meanwhile, Danny continues to infiltrate the Hand, learns how to converse with Stick through the smoke and incest phone, gets sent on a Hand mission, stalks Foggy and Karen on Hand's command, and sets his own penthouse on fire that one time.

What could possibly go wrong?

Danny's mission within the Hand can be anything you want. He has many reasons to try it, from the generic "destroy the Hand" (from the inside), to finding out what happened to Kun Lun, to getting Matt back. I'm guessing all three, but it was the rumors of Matt being held by the Hand that pushed him towards action.

Not that he thought it through, exactly.

In my mind, Electra is now the leader of the Hand (like Alexandra before her), with Gao as her main minion. Matt is indeed "held by the Hand", but he spends most of his time unconscious, because normal human beings can't just walk away from a building collapsing on them. Feel free to make changes to that as you please.

Stick and Jessica are the two people on the outside. One is fully engaged in the mission (guess which) and is coaching Danny and helping out with his usual charm. Jessica is quietly freaking out, and very loudly disapproving of this bullshit. There's also a tiny part of her that secretly hopes maybe they really *can* get Matt back, but she squashes it ruthlessly.

So, Jessica nad her snarky commentary are the voice of reason, not that Danny listens to them.

Stick, on the other hand (heh), is the opposite of the voice of reason, but is also the best ally Danny could dream of in this mission.

Davos is just too loyal for his own good. He has this mentality of a wide-eyed soldier before his first battle; he might be about to see what war is really like.

And of course things get emotionally complicated, because the Hand is a twisted organisation that Danny was brought up to hate, but it's also the closest thing to Kun Lun he could ever get on Earth. It reminds of home, it's almost *like* home, or two homes: Kun Lun with New York at his fingertips. He can see everything ugly about the Hand, but also the things that are beautiful and familiar. It doesn't help that he makes friends on the inside, and enemies, and his friends on the outside are now also sort-of his enemies, and only some of them know what he's doing. He gets deeper and deeper into the Hand's machinations, makes friends, makes enemies. He becomes a double and triple spy. Sometimes, he doesn't know what he believes anymore, which side he's on.

So Danny has his loyalties challenged, his sense of right and wrong challenged, he's almost working against *himself* now... For better or worse, if he survives this, this trial will change Danny Rand, the Immortal Iron Fist.

PS. I was thinking about maybe giving the Hand some justice as this mystical, ominous group, the inside of which is a scary place.

The Hand is a very old organisation, and within their walls, the reality seems to bend. Higher members of the Hand can do many things, not just reverse death but also invoke spirits of the past, connect minds through meditation, gather strength to use at a later date, with more force than human body can generate all at once.

This... this is painfully like Kun Lun. Danny finally found people who understand his culture, share his world with him - and they are his mortal enemies.

Of course, he also gets to see why so many people wanted the Hand destroyed so badly. The teachings that Danny remembers so well from the monastery seem to take a dark undertone. The power they possess is fueled by selfishness and cruelty. The rituals that bind all members together are twisted in a way Danny has never seen before. He was always taught that quan-li* was a grateful servitude, a mutual understanding between a man and the universe he serves - but in the Hand, it's nothing but a twisted exploitation.

*To Jessica: "It's... I guess back when I was that ten year old kid, I would call it magic"; "Harry Potter? No, I never met him. Is he a friend of yours?"
(yes, I made up that word on spot)
