Oh, I bet that one will be gold. I like to leave it to the author's choice, I'm really not picky. As far as other chars you could use, and that will probably affect the Defenders directly, you've got: Foggy and Trish, or maybe Claire himself.

The idea of Danny somehow deciding to heal the Punisher is hilarious to me too, if only because of the reactions of everyone else. Also because I happen to love Frank, but I am biased.
