Even funner fact: a fair amount of blind people can actually do this, even though most people don't seem to use it casually/don't use it to get around all the time. I only have a small sample size, though: I remember a couple blind guys I knew used it to get around a hotel room sans cane. (Clicking your tongue when it's really dark does work if you practice it and have a good sense of where you are in space and where sounds are coming from.)
