Re: Fill: Thorns for Flowers 2/4

Op here:

Thank you kindly! So far it’s all I hoped and dreamed a fill would be!

“His goodwill toward Daredevil was fading fast, however, because the asshole wasn’t even trying.” I liked that Clint was willing to give Daredevil a chance, but it’s the little things that get to him.
“He and Natasha had their own language of signs already for days when the hearing aids were too much, and combined with Steve’s World War II handsigns and Tony’s ideas about which would be easiest to make in gauntlets, they were developing a good basic language.” It’s these kind of details that I live for! Everyone doesn’t need to learn ASL, but are working together to create a language they can all learn and understand. (Except apparently Daredevil… who’s really good at pushing people away by refusing to communicate clearly.)

I like how Clint notices that Daredevil isn’t even looking quite in the right direction. I think it was also very realistic, how Clint misinterpreted the intentions behind Daredevil’s desire to leave early and get out of this whole conversation… and how Daredevil refusing overtures from the Avengers has become a bit of a trend, though it's clear to us the readers that Daredevil is just getting out of awkward situations where he doesn’t want to reveal his blindness. See, Matt! If you don’t communicate, people just think that you don’t care!

Aww, they send him a video of the hand signals, not knowing how extremely unhelpful that gesture was! Again, I like how you’re setting up future misunderstandings coming to a head…

“I am very happy to elaborate a bit on Faraday cages and how to manage ventilated patients without electricity for any interested anons but my geekery is not everybody's geekery and that is okay.” I’m into the history of medicine so I think that I could be into this kind of geekery. Go on.

“Despite being reminded again just a minute before, Daredevil still wasn’t facing Hawkeye to make lip-reading possible.” Aww, Matt.

“Daredevil grimaced. “Not great,” he said, as if it hadn’t been two weeks since the man reluctantly produced an email address and replied that he’d gone through the video. “If you need me, though, say my name. I’ll hear you.”” Again, aww. I’m sure that he tried, but the video is unhelpful to him. I also like how Daredevil mentioning offhand how good his hearing is in this extremely useful context can be interpreted as a dig for the hearing impaired.

I like how Tony was admiring Daredevil’s parkouring skills. Also: I see what you did there, with Daredevil beating up someone who from all appearances seems like a normal pharmacist but was in fact one of the baddies. Very good!

I look forward to more!
