So I'm just a fan of this thread in general and not any kind of writer, but a couple Urban Legend ideas could include - Something based off of Snow White where the ultimate mark of the Stepmother's evil was demanding that Snow White's Soulmate, the Huntsman, cut out that heart of his beloved. Or maybe Gargoyles where originally men who killed their soulmates and by doing so turned their own hearts to stone. Eventually the stone spread through their veins like poison and the twisted creatures that we know them as are all that's left of those who through away life's most precious gift. Or maybe even Bloody Mary in this world isn't the ghost of a woman executed for being a witch, but the ghost of a woman who was killed by her soulmate. Instead of trying to kill those who summon her, it's said she carries a knife with which to cut off their soulmark so they will never know the betrayal she felt. Of course, this normally leads to bleeding out but that's mostly incidental. Or in-universe, there were once two kings faced off against each other. Eventually one struck the killing blow against another and was horrified to find the man he had just killed had his mark. The surviving King drew the other close and his tears mixed with the blood from his dead mate's chest. The Greeks call it the Red Sea in order to honor a man who wept enough to fill an ocean.
