FILL, Pt 7/?

While running surveillance, Frank looked up to see if there were any books or articles on slave psychology. There had to be another way to communicate more effectively to them, make them understand that they didn't have to perform sex for him.

The only article he found that didn't make him immediately ragequit the tab was by a PhD and MD called Cowitzer, and it was about comfort objects, so Frank ignored it. Frank looked her up afterwards, and found that she had written a book. It was about how to rehabilitate ex-slaves, not how to help slaves that Frank couldn't free, but he found a free .pdf of it anyway.

He zoomed to the small section labeled 'Hypersexual Behaviors' and read avidly.

Many slaves, especially sex slaves, exhibit hypersexual behaviours before and after emancipation, especially when in a new environment. Much of this is because most sex slaves are conditioned to find sex with owners familiar and therefore soothing. Remember, we find the familiar comforting, even if it is also a predictable source of terror. In addition, many owners and training centers use sex as a form of dominance establishment and positive reinforcement, linking it to security, owner-possessiveness, and reward. Often they only orgasm as a reward for obedience, and many also are praised for their performances during sex, cementing the link even further.

Hypersexual behaviors of an ex-slave are usually attempts to test boundaries and understand the environment around them as well as be rewarded. Many sex slaves are not given much physical or verbal affection outside of sexual contact, even sexual contact that the owner is not directly involved in (eg being tied up in a revealing position or left with a sex toy inside of them), and therefore crave sexual contact after emancipation, finding it a solid form of safety. Many sex slaves' self-esteem is also tied up in their sexual performances, similar to how slaves in agriculture are obsessed with their physical fitness.

The ways to help an ex-slave suffering from hypersexuality are to create a safe, comforting environment, both physically and socially. Restrict access from troubling or new people, provide soft blankets and pillows, warm clothing, and much food, especially foods high in nutritional and caloric value (see the section on nutritional needs of ex-slaves). In addition, do not punish hypersexual behavior. This will create a fear of performing 'wrong' in the ex-slave. Instead, allow them to take control of their sexuality by, if necessary, making sure they know that orgasms and the form of penetration, for example, is allowed to them whenever they choose to seek it. Pairs or more of ex-slaves should be allowed to have sexual contact, provided they are warned to not hurt one another, and all are given a safe space in which to calm down.

Frank stared at it, thinking. Then he decided he had to go on a quest. He pulled up in front of Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and ventured inside.
