OP: Ahhhh my god, this is fantastically well-written, first-off. Your dialogue flows so well and I love all the little details about Matt's senses. And Jared is an incredibly well-formed creep. He's insidious, but Matt's discomfort and doubts about him - his rationalization that he's probably just misinterpreting things, Jared's a good guy, he doesn't want to make a scene - is devastatingly realistic. And the fact that all this happened in college, and Matt has literally been living with it for years - the trauma of his assault and his misplaced guilt and Foggy blaming him and having absolutely no support - is just killing me. "He thought about Jared a lot." Ohhhhhhh, Matt. Breaking my heart. And Matt's whole thing about not wanting to lie and his issues about the devil? Oh man. I can't wait to see the fall-out of Foggy parsing what "I could've stopped him" really means and how he reacts and what happens next. Anyway this is excellent! Thank you for writing it.
