Frank would be able to justify to himself that it's a decent tradeoff; he gets to have Matt cuddled against him and he has something specific to praise him for, and Matt never argues because he knows he can take a beating well. But Frank's the one who uses the safeword the most, and they learn quickly that the weeks after Frank deals with a domestic abuser are weeks when Matt's going to be a Good Boy and damn well like it.
