I used to get art 'critiques' about how the women I drew weren't pretty enough. Any hint of muscle was 'mannish', clothes that weren't skin-tight were 'dumpy', and non-shaped eyebrows were '*incomprehensible baby noises*'
I wasn't making a statement, I was just designing with my brain instead of my junk. That discouraged me from cartooning for a really long time.
